    Cardiff Central Possibilities

Moving Cardiff Central West would defeat the object of the main station being right in the city centre, right next to the new bus station. There should be a new platform created the East end of the main concourse, in a similar setup to how Platform 0 is. Looking at googlemaps it doesn't look...

    Class 175 future speculation

If they are properly maintained and well looked after, they are relatively reliable trains. Fires were caused by a drop in maintenance regime.

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Has anyone actually properly assessed the seat alignment and come up with possible reasons why they are how they are? Surely moving seats/tables to align with the windows would either lead to less legroom or more legroom depending on how they need aligning, and with that either comes more seats...

Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire frequency and electrification

The UP section of the district line that joins at Britton Ferry is next to the platform but doesn't actually have a platform joined. With some remodelling it could be the ideal place to put in a loop off the mainline while also being able to platform the Swanlines off the mainline too. If...

TfW 15x/17x withdrawals (17x now finished)

Sorry, meant the 150s becoming available for other TOCs rather than the ones being scrapped. 1711276393 There's still no confirmed plans for 398s being introduced. Even with the 756s there will still be 150s needed om the Valleys. It's looking like end of year or start of 2025 latest for 158s...

TFWs 158s will likely be leaving before the 150s

Cross Country overcrowding - shortage of rolling stock

Could XC give up any routes to free up some of it's fleet? The primary target being Cardiff - Nottingham. XC continue with Nottingham - Birmingham in some form and TfW take on Cardiff - Birmingham which could in turn be changed to a Swansea - Birmingham. Once TFW have all of it's fleet in place...

Landslip at Wellington (Shropshire), Birmingham - Shrewsbury services suspended

The 2 hour wait would be at Wellington waiting for the back working of that service, which is what the original post was referring to. If trains turn around at Wellington, with a 20 min wait and shunt, they would be coming back 2 hours early, not 1 hour early. An Aberystwyth arriving service...

Landslip at Wellington (Shropshire), Birmingham - Shrewsbury services suspended

It could well be possible and wouldn't require the unit to sit there for the back working. Units will be sat there for about 2 hours. If it was planned for them to come back West on the next service it would be about a 25 min wait, plenty of time to do the shunt.

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Or just fuel it on Depot. They only seem to have about 30-40 mins on Canton during the day. How long does it take to fuel a 67?

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Swansea - Manchester is about 220 miles Cardiff - Manchester is about 175 miles Cardiff - Swansea is about 45 miles Manchester - Crewe is about 35 miles and the range of the 67s is about 800. On that basis a diagram such as: Cardiff - Manchester (175) Manchester - Swansea - Manchester (440)...

Landslip at Wellington (Shropshire), Birmingham - Shrewsbury services suspended

Wellington - Shrewsbury by train is 20 mins. Wellington - Shrewsbury by road is showing 23 mins. As nice as it would be to run services to/from Wellington, what are the benefits of doing so? Is there that much passenger demand solely between Wellington and Shrewsbury to make it worthwhile?
  15. C

Landslip at Wellington (Shropshire), Birmingham - Shrewsbury services suspended

It would only benefit people between Wellington and Shrewsbury, which would be a small benefit. Offloading passengers at Shrewsbury for onward stations would be by far logistically better where not only is it a manned station, there would be bus co-ordinators and more organised road transport...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Because there are plenty of TFW routes where 2 car is sufficient. The long term idea is that of busier routes they will always be attached to be 4-5 car.

    Class 175 future speculation

The 150's are 40 odd years old. It's been reported elsewhere that Porterbrook aren't renewing the major exams, so when they are due those units are being scrapped. Not sure how that affects the whole TFW 150 fleet.

Class 175 - the next chapter possibly ?

I think they are still going through their major maintenance regimes, so it could either be that or signs of things moving because they have a new home. Previously a lot of the major maintenance was being done at Longsight, then Ilford and now seems to be Central Rivers.
