    Freightliner - Trainee Drivers 2022 - (01/11/21)

Me too..... I applied 3/11, sounds like the emails are being sent out

    Psychometric Test

I can’t help thinking if you apply with a TOC/FOC and pass, your through, no fuss. If you bring your own ‘shop bought pass ticket’ it may have different tests and they have to mix and match to see if it qualifies.... when they’ll have more than enough people who’ve gone through their testing...

‘Driver’ isn’t the only job on the railway

Exactly my point. For me it wasn’t the money but the feeling I was looked down on (whether real or in my head) but I have a greater respect now for people who are happy to ‘stick as they are’

‘Driver’ isn’t the only job on the railway

It feels, sometimes, like train drivers are the kings of the railway. The vast majority of threads are of people looking to find driver jobs, pass the psycho tests, get through interviews and sitting in talent pools, waiting for offers etc etc Yet there are plenty of roles in the rail industry...

    Previous experience before applying

Sw1ller... I couldn’t agree more with your first paragraph. But feel the second to be fairly odd!! The railway have been trying to stop SPAD’s for years, maybe the answer is to make all drivers apply more than 3 times??

Food for thought for those applying - Risk of over preparing for the driver tests

This is how it is designed to be. The OPC send out some ‘practice material’ which are similar exercises but essentially different from the actual test. Therefore the actual test, on the day, is quite fresh, to see if you have the abilities. If they wanted people to have the actual test in...

Food for thought for those applying - Risk of over preparing for the driver tests

It feels like a large amount of topics here are hopeful people applying for driver positions or awaiting stage 1/2 tests, asking for tips or insight into the tests, fair enough I guess. A word of caution, if I may, though? As is regularly replied on these pages, the tests are carefully...

    Freightliner Various Trainee Drivers

Looks like there was a post on this thread, 27th Jan, asking about the latest course.... no answers - so could training have been suspended?? If so there will be a delay to allow sufficient gap between courses, I would imagine??

    Railway driver colourblindness

Interesting thread this... There is a newly qualified driver at my depot who has some ‘space age’ type googles. He’s red/green colour blind but, I understand, was a traffic cop before hand. They are like an old WW1 pilots helmet and using some hokus-pokus transform the colours into something...

    Becoming a trainee train driver

For the TRP1 memory test, try to memorise the RSSB rule book... will stand you in good stead when doing your rules course!!! Makes my head spin just thinking about it....o_O Single-line pilotman working:'(!!!

    Freightliner Various Trainee Drivers

;););)Those people may be on a course, at another TOC/FOC or lost interest when you go again, leaving you in the top 5 candidates?

    Freightliner Various Trainee Drivers

Sorry to hear that. Feel with the tier 4 that training will be disrupted anyway. Maybe the ‘tables will be cleared’ and they’ll start fresh again, the fact you got to interview might give you the edge next time??

    Freightliner Various Trainee Drivers

Anyone got a course start date in 2020??

A couple of questions about Freightliner

    Colour Blind

That’s just stupid...... surely they’d just use a Labrador on the second-hounds side??

Would you leave a stable job for a trainee drivers job in this current climate?

Some fairly sweeping generalisations, possibly?? Without wishing to get into any arguments with anyone, we speak of ‘job security’. Clearly based on both the loyalty of a company to stand by its employees and the availability of work? Yet there seems to be a consensus of reply’s suggesting...

Would you leave a stable job for a trainee drivers job in this current climate?

From my understanding of the OP’s question, they have already passed the Phsyco’s and MMI/DMI etc..? A position many people would give a kidney for! So are people suggesting he’d be better to await a TOC than take an (almost) dead-sert FOC job? Are TOC’s really that much better? My thought...

    Trainee Driver - Freightliner

As I said, happy to accept I’m wrong, makes sense to think of it as 2 separate tests with their own 2 strike rule.
