    Freightliner Driver Jobs

I like how many incorrect rumours there are about GB! The multiple drivers pin is one of my favourites, they would have more than one pin……if they sign the 92s as they take a 6 digit pin and not a 5 digit pin like the 66s normally do. Same with rest days, you aren’t forced into working your...

    Freightliner Driver Jobs

You mentioned Peterborough To Felixstowe, which is only covered by Peterborough drivers at DB.

    Freightliner Driver Jobs

I think what hasn’t helped DB compared to the other FOCs is increasing rest time between shifts to 14 hours from 12, which has massively changed the way the roster can be done, and made it much more difficult for them. Every FOC has its negatives, you just either get used to it or go to a...

    Slow freight trains

Ely, 20mph through the station (sometimes 10mph on heavy axle weight trains)

GBRf working conditions - Qualified Drivers

From the lads who work for them and who I see everyday, it’s mainly the intense workload and pressure from management to cover jobs, not a team player and don’t expect any favours if you don’t do it. Excellent money earner for a few years though!

GBRf working conditions - Qualified Drivers

Probably why they’ve changed their leaving policy now, we’ve had a few trying to join us but the fees are very steep for leaving during the first year or two now.

GBRf working conditions - Qualified Drivers

It’s a nominal 35 hours over the contractual year. So it’s not guaranteed that you will be doing 35 every week, some weeks you could be doing 60 hours some you could be doing less then the 35. Plenty of opportunities for RDW.

Rail Freight Flows and News UK

I was told the 67s are r/l so when the Felixstowe jobs are diverted via London they will only need 1 driver to them back to Peterborough, instead of the 2/3 currently.

Rail Freight Flows and News UK

Do you know who will be running it instead? I think a few RHTT operators will be changing this autumn based on what I’ve heard.

    DC rail qualified drivers

Think the terms they offer are rather horrific so I’ve been told! For 45 hours a week it’s not as much as other FOC’s if it’s a mobile position.

    Volker Rail OTM Jobs

I know a few lads that have left them to come to my current FOC, no one I have spoke to has a decent word to say about them, apart from the money is decent but that’s mainly because they’ve had to increase it to try and keep their drivers which doesn’t seem to be working. They have been on a...

    Driver network rail test trains

I heard from them yesterday, they are holding interviews for this role over the next couple of weeks.

Trivia: A train that overtakes another train, then gets overtaken on the same journey

DB Cargo East Midlands - Felixstowe South (about 10pm) at Peterborough gets overtaken by the Tees Dock - Felixstowe North Freightliner, which then in turn sits in Ely goods for half an hour, in which the DB Cargo service passes it.

Rail Freight Flows and News UK

The FCC Peterborough job is going into a new site on DB land - it’ll be a new siding etc which is currently being built now.

Whittlesey - collision between freight train and tractor. (19/08/21)

This is a very quiet user worked crossing, on one side is a farm building with a bungalow next to it and the other from memory is fields! What confuses me is that the visibility is excellent there, it is on a completely straight section of track and the weather was good yesterday. I don’t see...

Longest distance - depot to start?

If we are bringing a train back from Felixstowe it’s a case of passenger train to Ipswich from Peterborough then either taxi from Ipswich to Felixstowe or train to Felixstowe station then taxi to our train at the docks. Quite a journey!

How many applications and interviews until you cracked it?

Pure luck for me, 1st time applying for driver role and got the job. Started December 2019, came from a completely different background, non railway.

Felixstowe freight workings at night time

As others have mentioned there is engineering works on the normal route (Via Ely) which means we have to take the long route! Also makes it more troublesome as there are drivers who only sign part of the diversion route compared to normal. I think it’s back to normal on Friday.

    DCR Qualified

I would like to know this as well, they have been advertising for quite some time but I struggle to find any info before actually go going ahead and applying.

    Intermodal freights on Midland/Chiltern Mainline

As others have have mentioned, both route don’t go anywhere helpful for the intermodal freight, also on the MML I was under the impression there was clearance issues for the larger boxes. (According to the train lists produced for our trains at work)
