It says you have to live within an hour from Cardiff train station on the advert itself.

You move into a mainline position when a vacancy arises, there may already be established junior drivers at the depot who will go before you based on seniority. Then you’ve got extra hours to complete and a few other bits before getting the rate of pay.

I’m going to say psychometric testing inclusive of MMI as it forms part of the day. DMI will be completed on successful application to the company and shortlisting from there.

You begin as a yard driver and then progress into the mainline role once a vacancy arises, no time frame on that. You are trained to a mainline rules standard.

Given the new laws passed by the Tories to utilise agency workers during a strike, is this position out there for those purposes ?

In a time where the gov/TOC’s are wanting to multi skill staff to reduce their workforce numbers, any idea of carrying out a different task aside from your driving work is playing into that narrative and shouldn’t ever be considered.

£30k during training and qualified as a Junior or £30k during training and £50k+ once qualified as a mainline driver.

They applied on a previous campaign but just been informed they have been successful throughout and await a date for a medical.

Given their specific target towards more women, a lot of women have been turned down at the first hurdle ! Next time will be a lot easier as you now know what to fill in etc, keep at it.

I know of someone who’s been rejected, someone’s who’s waiting to hear and another who’s passed the lot and awaiting a medical so I assume it’s all still in the process but as usual, it’s just the lucky few that pass the sift.

The accommodation here is what it is, Sunday to Thursday at a hotel close to the training location dictated, which may not be the closest to your home address.
