    Lothian Buses acquires Eve Coaches

Now that Eve's comes under the Lothian umbrella.... https://lothian-storage.eu-central-1.linodeobjects.com/eve/DRT131.pdf

    Lothian Buses acquires Eve Coaches

Eves also have school contract for Preston Lodge > Port Seton. They usually use their 100 seater, and three coaches. We used them regularly to take coach loads of OAPs out for day or afternoon trips. Always found Gary Scougall (the owner) very helpful and his drivers were superb very patient...

I notice that the Bus Map at Asda at The Jewel still shows the No 4 serving and terminating there

Edinburgh & the Lothians bus network speculations & ideas

I don't ont know why they don't use the park and ride at Newcraighall Fire Station as the terminus. It would be a good alternative to the train to get into town and a lot more convenient for East Lothian drivers.

I wonder how much quicker services could be (and the impact on congestion) if they brought back conductors?

Just to add to recent "accidents" - the 10.30 ish X5 to Edinburgh last friday (10th) drove into the bus shelter at St Germains Level Crossing and took out his wing mirror. Passengers none too happy, as they had to wait for the next 124 and were quite late getting into town. Driver almost got...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

It costs £1.80 to go from Seton Sands to Clerwood on the 26. Yet, within that distance (Fishergate Road on the A198 - roughly half a mile closer to Edinburgh that Seton Sands) it costs £2.80 to go to Blindwells, or Meadowmill Sports Centre on the 124 or X5 - a distance of not even 1 mile.

70mph speed limit perhaps - no other open top runs through that distance on a 70 limit road

Maybe its time to raise the issue with the Transport Minister, local councillors, MPs, MSPs - even the dreaded Edinburgh Evening News. The EEN likes to take a pop at Lothian so maybe that's the route (pardon the pun) to take.

Given the new "Ring Road" round Wallyford, which already has bus stops erected and which goes past the new primary school, do you think the 44 might be rerouted to serve the new houses / primary school and soon to be secondary school at Strawberry Corner? (PS - can't see the "ring road" being...

Why do service levels vary on Good Friday around the country?

In Scotland, its because we don't all go on holiday on Bank Holidays. We have different holidays for each city or town. So for example, Glasgow isn't on holiday the same time as Edinburgh. Only banks take the bank holidays, all others are classed as local holidays.

Interesting response from Craig Hoy MSP on his attempts to have the X5 service reinstated

If only Lothian Buses would extend the 400 a few extra yards to the Newcraighall Park and Ride, I would be quite happy leaving my car there since the Fire Station has CCTV all round. But you can't leave it at Fort Kinaird without a penalty charge kicking in.

I see the new bus stop arrangements in Musselburgh High Street come into force on Thursday. Also a new bus lane from the Shorthope Street lights to the Dalrymple Loan lights. Let's hope it eases the congestion, despite the loss of parking spaces.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

The problem here would be that 26 passengers on Princes St would aim for the 124 - a half hourly service that often gets so filled up by people going no further than Joppa that passengers for East Lothian sometimes can't get on. It's happened to me a couple of times waiting at Waterloo Place...

    Lothian Buses and ECB Discussion

If ECB were to divert the 124/X24 as per the recent diversion then major roadworks will be required on the lane from the coast road to Dean Road/ Kings Avenue. The road has been badly ripped up by the larger ECB buses, plus a more permanent arrangement for traffic lights / one way operation will...

    Lothian Buses and ECB Discussion

On the 17 /18 reg buses used on East Coast, the destination screen provides 2 lines of text. Top is usually destination, botton is, e.g. "Semple Street", "Express" etc. When the bypass was shut due to accident, ECB added "route diverted" on the bottom line. Why can't LB do the same? Customers...

Edinburgh Tour Operators: Bright Bus, Lothian (Majestic, Three Bridges) etc.

Not often in Edinburgh but had a stroll up Waverley Bridge yesterday. Not impressed with the First Bus Tours - not with the buses themselves but the look of the drivers. Sorry but their polo shirts look so scruffy, don't even look as if they fit properly. Looked more like a bunch of truckers...
