A scam phone calls and emails discussion.

Thank you so much for this advice. I contacted a young, computer literate relative and he advised me to do as you suggested. He also told me how to do it. The worst thing is the worry and stress these criminals engender in old people like me. In future, I will use my iPad for booking flights etc.

A scam phone calls and emails discussion.

My laptop runs Window 10 and has all the latest updates installed. It gets minimal usage and is turned on infrequently. I only use it for booking flights, hotels and restaurants as my elderly eyes cannot see clearly on a small phone screen. I do not visit dodgy sites and in over twenty years...

Den Haag Centraal - Amsterdam Centraal

Thank you for clarifying the situation. We prefer to travel from Den Haag Centraal as it is the train's origin station and we are guaranteed two seats together. We arrive early, get a cappuccino, board the train and relax while drinking our coffee. As we only travel to Amsterdam to visit the...

Den Haag Centraal - Amsterdam Centraal

Tomorrow, 20 June, two of us wish to travel from Den Haag Centraal to Amsterdam Centraal. We are going to the exhibition at the Van Gogh museum. According to the NS journey planner, there are no longer any direct trains after 09:49 which is too early for us. Looking at future dates, this change...

    Netherlands train derailment

Condolences to all the injured and relatives and friends of the deceased. I am due to travel to Den Haag Centraal this afternoon and am presently in Dublin airport awaiting my flight to Schiphol. It's a terrible shock.

Netherlands introduce contactless for second class train travel

Apologies for a non-rail related question, but presumably then large stores, Albert Heijn say, that do not currently accept foreign debit cards will do so in the future. Is there any word on the timescale of when this will happen and is there an expectation that small independent retailers will...

Changing LNER advance tickets due to possible strike

The two of us live outside the UK. We are visiting a friend in Doncaster on Wednesday 17 August and spending the night in a hotel there. We booked a flexible rate with the hotel and can cancel without cost. The following day, Thursday 18 August, we are travelling on a LNER train to Leeds...

New Rail Staff online booking site is now live

I live in Ireland and am entitled to a Staff Travel card. There is now a charge of £10 for posting it overseas. I phoned RST on 12 May to pay the charge. I was informed that payment could not be taken over the phone, but I would be sent an email containing details of how to pay by credit or...

New Rail Staff online booking site is now live

Talk about one hand not knowing what the other hand is doing! I was given the above information by RST on the phone this morning. This afternoon, I received an e-mail from RST inviting me to register an account at RST Online to enable me to buy priv discounted tickets online. It contained a one...

    Transport for Wales Seat Reservations

I am just back from my travels and giving a report on what happened. I sent an e-mail to Transport for Wales requesting two seat reservations. I received an automated reply stating they were very busy and it could take up three weeks to respond. When three weeks passed, with no word from TfW, I...

    Transport for Wales Seat Reservations

Thank you both for your help. I have e-mailed Customer Relations at TFW as it is cheaper than a phone call from overseas. Although as their automated reply states ''We do aim to respond to our customers within 10 working days, though this may extend to 20 working days currently'', I may...

    Transport for Wales Seat Reservations

I have just purchased online two advance tickets for a Transport for Wales train from Manchester Piccadilly to Cardiff Central on Friday, 8 November. Despite trying, I was unable to reserve seats and the message was to sit in any free seats. I am a little peeved as I am retired staff and could...

    Priv Oyster

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. The public ticket machines at Tottenham Hale were all located outside, at the entrance to the station. There was a notice which read “Please use the ticket machines before entering the station.” There appeared to be no machine of any kind inside the...

    Priv Oyster

Unusually, this was my second visit to London this year. I was also at Tottenham Hale station in January. Because of ongoing refurbishment, the station was a building site. The supervisor told me in January that the privilege rate could be put on an Oyster card at any other station on the...

    Priv Oyster

I am retired staff and live in Ireland. I normally visit London once a year. I fly into Stansted Airport, take the Stansted Express to Tottenham Hale and then travel on the Victoria line underground to Euston. Since the closure of the staffed ticket office, the station supervisor at Tottenham...
