TransPennine Express short forms & overcrowding

Unfortunately this isn’t anything new, it’s been like this for a couple of years now, doesn’t actually seem to be as bad recently.

Eurovision Liverpool, a rail nightmare waiting to happen.

The grand national tonight will have problems too, transpennine have cancelled the 17:54, 18:54 and 20:54 out of Liverpool to Newcastle/Leeds.

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

They are blaming it on an IT failure today but they’ve had rostering issues for months now, what is their excuse for yesterday’s shambolic service?

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

You have to think customers would’ve reacted better to this news had they not waited until the morning rush hour on a Wednesday to announce it. Surely this should’ve been discovered earlier?

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

Now updated to say “Do not travel”, absolutely disgraceful to announce that during the morning peak.

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

Just an attack on unions from them, I hardly think unions are the issue considering none strike days have been an absolute mess across TPE and they have all those Mark 5As sitting doing nothing.

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

They’ve announced “disruptions on all lines due to overcrowding” now.

Saturdays on the railway in general

For me on the transpennine route between Newcastle and Liverpool these are by far the most disruptive groups, they also get on/off at York, Leeds and Manchester so at the end of the journey you can have 3 groups of cans and bottles all over the train. They seem to have no problem being sick on a...

    Northern cancellations getting worse

The problem is these issues would be fine if they were the only issue, a track defect every once in a while would be accepted by passengers. If however they’re facing disruption every day then this track defect won’t be tolerated as much and they’ll just see it as yet another day of poor service.

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

I agree broken rails are fine and it’s something we just can’t predict, short notice change to the timetable is just a kick in the teeth to passengers now though.

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

43 full cancellations and 31 part cancellations today, it’s got to the point where the entire route is unusable and passengers won’t come back if they feel like the “reason” for delay is a lie.

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

Cancelled less than 30 minutes before the train was due to leave today and as you can imagine it’s due to “a short notice chance to the timetable”. Can’t get the one an hour later because that’s cancelled too and the only advice TPE give is to submit yet another formal complaint and speak to...

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

Seems like they’ve given up reporting the short forms correctly on journey check now, on the 17:27 Thornaby to Manchester Airport which is meant to be 6 cars and we’re stuck with 3 cars (DEF) which confused passengers at the platform. Meanwhile the 18:27 is showing as short formed on journey...

    Transpennine woes and a moan...

The awful service is one thing and I understand that they can’t control that as they are hampered by the DfT. The really annoying thing is the lack of communication and often very late cancellations to services such as when passengers are stood on the platform waiting for doors to be opened only...

Standard reasons given for delays and cancellations

This is something that really annoys me and I think most passengers would be more understanding if they were given the correct reason for a delay rather than different reasons for the same delay. I’ve been on many trains where the onboard announcements give a completely different reason for a...

Collision and derailment near Salisbury (Fisherton Tunnel) 31/10/21

It could just be a passenger that was on the train, 99% of them will have a camera on their phone.

    Modern trains and modern lighting

The EMR class 222 services out of St Pancras on a night sit at the platform in “energy saving mode” which turns off the plug sockets and dims the lights to a very low level before turning the lights back up as they depart.

Entire 800/801/802 fleet stood down for safety checks

Might be talking rubbish but is there any possibility of these trains being checked today, running for a weeks and then forming cracks in the future?

    Northern Class 142 sightings

Already going very badly, the Bishop/Darlington - Saltburn diagrams are absolutely decimated already.

    Northern Pacer Withdrawals - Info?

After being treat to 156s and 158s last week there was a collective groan at Thornaby when a pacer rocked up this morning
