Brighton & Hove / Metrobus Discussion

There likely is some room but not enough for the 97 hydrogen vehicles that'll eventually be part of the fleet (including the 20 already "running").

    One-off direct Gatwick-Basingstoke train?

mmm I stumbled across that just after posting this. Hopefully it runs this time but we'll see...

    One-off direct Gatwick-Basingstoke train?

Assuming Real Time Trains is correct, it looks like the first Gatwick-Reading train tomorrow (Monday 18th March) is operating through to Basingstoke. Any idea if this has happened before? https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:L65679/2024-03-18/detailed I'm assuming that this is just a...

    Potential new Cross Country livery

Ah I see, I was wondering whether a refurb was coming up.

    Potential new Cross Country livery

Right, I think until there's any sort of official word I don't think this can be taken as something that's happening.

    Potential new Cross Country livery

Do you have the link? There's been no official word on this so I wouldn't take it as being true.

    CLASS 465/466

Might be wrong but I don't think they do. The Sittingbourne services now use a 3-car 375 and the Bromley North shuttle is diagrammed for a 465.

    Safeguarding officer

That's pretty good to hear, sounds to me like they're pretty effective.

    Safeguarding officer

Bwahaha doesn't surprise me that someone does. With three bridges being a pretty well-used station and all it doesn't surprise me to see a permanent welfare & trespass officer patrolling.

    Safeguarding officer

I don't think anyone's actually in favour of it, just older folk may care more. I'm against it but struggle to be anything more than ambivalent towards it all.

    Safeguarding officer

Indeed. Now i'm wondering if this person may be one of the "trespass and welfare officers" mentioned previously, although of course not on SWR.

    Safeguarding officer

Three Bridges seems to have something similar, most if not all times I've been there during the day there's been a "welfare officer" in a grey jacket patrolling the platforms. Always the same guy too, although I guess in theory it could just be a security guard as per above...

    Great Northern Fleet Tender

For fear of getting slightly off-topic, I know from being a local to East Grinstead that the temporary axing of the Thameslink peak extras to EG was a political concern raised with the local MP on multiple occasions, who in turn raised it with GTR on multiple occasions. I have no idea what the...

Also i've just noticed your username sounds very much like it could be your real name, you may want to get a moderator to change that.

    Sandwiching prosecution advice

I'm nowhere near qualified to say anything about the specifics of your case (I mostly just lurk in this particular section at least) but 2 things to note: 1) Thameslink are I believe one of the more lenient TOCs out there and much more likely to offer a settlement which'll keep it out of court...

    Jersey and Guernsey rail tunnel

This is a good point, Guernsey and Jersey are culturally far closer to the UK than France. I'm not saying that it wouldn't make it's money back but this probably isn't a good idea. Also worth noting that from memory ferry links between Jersey and Guernsey aren't too bad.

Derailment between Hersham & Walton on Thames (04/03)

No, these were unscheduled diversions, showed on RTT as no report over the area it diverted from.

Derailment between Hersham & Walton on Thames (04/03)

It looks like some Portsmouth trains are diverting via Cobham.

Question: How are Seven Sisters and Edmonton Green stations used by Greater Anglia services?

https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/gb-nr:SVS/2024-03-01/0000-2359?stp=WVSC&show=all&order=wtt&toc=LE It seems to vary between days but typically several late-night services seem to stop at Seven Sisters every night, normally around 3 or 4. None seem to stop at Edmonton Green...
