Train faults that can cancel a service but still allow affected rolling stock to move

I was on a Tyne and wear metro once when it was taken out of service because a door wouldn't close. We were all told to get off the train then the door were closed manually and the train driven to the depot.

    What is minimum curve?

I've often wondered how locos with 3 bogies (such as some of the Japanese electrics) negotiate curves.. I'd imagine the centre one is allowed some degree of lateral movement.

Trivia: Buildings with never used railway infrastructure

Haymarket station on the Tyne and Wear Metro has extended sections of platform beyond the official platform ends, originally built to fit longer trains that never operated.

    Heaton Derailment 22/03/22

I agree that the derailment happened at the rear. Looking at the direction the wall/railing has been pushed over, and the kink in the next rails along, it looks like the rearmost bogie took the straight route, for whatever reason, at the points further back while the rest of the train went...

Trivia: Electrification that's (likely) never been used.

I visited Newcastle station recently for the first time in a while, and I noticed the wires above the western bay platforms (9-12), this got me thinking on if they've ever been used by an electric train in their life, of course this may have changed recently in Newcastle's case as maybe TPE have...

Trivia: aptly named stations, in a literal sense

There's quite a few on the Tyne and Wear Metro that fit the literal category: Monument Airport Central Station Also others that are derived from very literal place names: Four Lane Ends (Junction between four major roads) Tynemouth (Located at the mouth of the Tyne) Wallsend (The historical...

Trivia : Roads/or station approaches running parallel with the railway

The A69 runs parallel and immediately next to the Tyne Valley Line in several areas, including a decent length section between Haltwhistle and Greenhead of about 4 miles. Apologies if already mentioned Also the A64 and the Scarborough line near Seamer. I remember "racing" the cars along there...

Trivia: Biggest BR sign/logo on the network?

Hi all, This may have been done before, please alert me If so. What's the biggest BR logo you've seen on the network? I reckon the one on the front of Lime Street could be a contender. Thanks.

Trivia: Stations with the most long-distance railheadding (excluding Parkway stations)

I suspect Peterborough is used quite heavily for this purpose. The station has a huge car park which (in pre-covid times anyways) was always full.

Trivia: lines which have never had brand new rolling stock

If we really wanted to stretch it .. could say sections of the T&W metro built after 1982?

Trivia: Journey with a change quicker than the direct service

Feel free to advise me if this has been asked before: I remember booking tickets a couple years ago to travel from Liverpool to Peterborough where I was surprised to find the direct service (EMT Liverpool-Norwich) came in at over 4 hours whereas another option with a change at York or Leeds...

    Most Unreliable Multiple Unit

The Tyne and Wear Metrocars have become rather unreliable in the last few years, though that is probably an age thing more than anything else!

Flashing blue LEDs "below the solebar" on 158s and 166s

I've swear I've seen them on 156's as well, sprinters predate the invention of the blue LED so they must be some sort of retrofit.

    Avanti IET Speeds

Is the acceleration of an IET really that much quicker than a 390, to keep time despite being none EPS though? from the few times ive been on 390s I wouldn't exactly consider them sluggish, I mean their not replacing 91's or HSTs here.
