    Aldwych Station Information

Earlier plans would have had a full connection at Holborn but, as you mention, the knock-on effect of running through trains to Aldwych would have been reducing capacity on the whole line to the west. This may not have been so much of an issue had other plans come to fruition too, however. The...

Box for Photocard number printed on Southern Daysave

Thanks everyone for that info. Yes, I had already figured afterwards that I perhaps should have had the ticket posted instead (at least to me, Southern's site didn't make clear the reasoning for printing at a Southern station, so once given options of other operator's stations I then assumed it...

Box for Photocard number printed on Southern Daysave

I recently purchased a Southern Daysave, for travel towards the end of this month, and collected it from my local (not Southern-operated) station. I noticed that a box for a Photocard number was printed in the upper right corner, which as I understand things is not required for such a ticket...

    Class 378 new livery

This was one of the units which were temporarily shortened to 4-car for use on Gospel Oak - Barking services before the 710s were ready, and had the numbers applied in those positions at that time. The other two, 378206 and 232, also ran in that condition but (as mentioned above) have since...

Did (do) any buses use 7-segment display route numbers?

The Shires had a batch of Dart SLF / Pointers new for Watford and Hemel Hempstead in early 1997 which had 7-segment displays on the nearside and rear but traditional blinds on the front (those were altered soon after entering service to move the number blinds to the driver's side). A batch of...

    Non-Urgent TOPS Requests

I was aware there had been some reformations with these units and was looking for each coach number as it passed to check they all matched - not the easiest thing to do when also filming though. Somehow ended up writing it down on my phone (admittedly after a few other trains had also passed...

    Non-Urgent TOPS Requests

Is anyone able to let me know which class 180 operated 1N92 (11:27 King's Cross - Sunderland) on Tuesday 25th please? Only just discovered I must have been mistaken when glancing at its coach numbers since I noted it down as a unit which is actually with EMR and not GC...

    Letters after unit numbers?

Class 700s and 717s also have a white line around the top of the upper marker light at one end. To add to this, the coupling restrictions were due to wiring not being duplicated symmetrically across the couplers on some types of stock, meaning an A end would have to couple to a D end. The...

Class 378's to be shortened to 4 cars and used on GOBLIN?

All three of the removed cars were still in the siding at Willesden last Thursday. I travelled on 378206 but can't remember if I saw either of the other two 4-car units out and about.

Place name differences: the railway calls it by this name, but everyone else calls it by that name!

I wouldn't go as far to say that. While I personally consider the Meriden estate to be part of Garston I'm aware that for many people they are separate places. However the housing on the northwest side of the railway is certainly Garston and not Meriden. The station platform is indeed on the...

    Abbey Flyer Line Traction

Class 313s were the usual units on the Abbey line until some point during the Silverlink era when it switched to 321s - though class 321s were used occasionally before then. Their 150s did turn up on the Abbey line once or twice, and 117s / 121s before that. WAGN 313s were also hired in at...

    Class 710 LO

According to that, two of the 4-cars will be for GOBLIN while the other, and a unit intended for Romford - Upminster (which will now have to be dual-voltage) will be for the DC line to release a further two 378s. I'm a bit confused by that as I had thought the plan was for all DC line services...

Commuter put bare swollen feet on a seat and refused to take them down

In my opinion there's nothing at all wrong with bare feet on a train, but putting feet (with or without shoes) the seats is wrong - many trains have had notices requesting passengers not to do that. Even when the passenger has taken their shoes off when doing that then their feet may be...

    Livery lists for LM,XC,EM,NX

An FCC liveried unit has been operating the Abbey Line service this week, as the other six units are now in London Midland livery it surely has to be 319455.

TOPS Requests (including headcodes, allocations, traction, etc) [Instructions in Post 2]

Could anyone please let me know which class 90 operated 1P24 (1130 Liverpool Street - Norwich) today (7th September)? The DVT was 82143 but my view of the 90 was obscured by a Freightliner intermodal service. And also the class 360s that worked 1N20 (1118 Liverpool Street - Clacton)?

TOPS Requests (including headcodes, allocations, traction, etc) [Instructions in Post 2]

Thanks! Are you sure? 91107 is named 'Skyfall' and now carries full Virgin Trains East Coast livery, while the class 91 I saw on that service was in the old livery and did not have a nameplate.
