Nobody from First or any other bus company at the bus stop opposite the station this morning (Saturday 20th. Lots of people waiting especially for the 7s and Uni buses. One of the construction workers was helping people in between directing traffic. Oh well it is only for 2 weekends!

Blossom Street York bus stop this morning. This listed a 22 York and Country service departure as well as the EYMS 82 service!

Surely not, the 59 goes via Leeman road now not Blossom Street and Holgate Hill.

All the more reason for it to stop more! The 5/5A also parallel it for part of the way, of course.

I don’t think the 59 does so well either as I often see it, as I live near it although it does not stop anywhere near where I live. This is a major criticism of my immediate neighbours!

Why don’t you get in touch with Northern and ask them if there would an opening for a qualified driver? Seek their advice! I know someone who did just that (for a Manchester area TOC) and after about a month was rung up and called in for an interview! He got the job. Best of luck.

I cannot speak for Skipton but as a retired Northern driver who meets regularly with former colleagues, Leeds always seem to be recruiting. York is also recruiting at the moment. Good Luck and welcome to Yorkshire. Seehof (A Southener)

At Northern, where I worked, newly qualified drivers not in a link were given jobs all the time. At no time were they sitting around to give others overtime. I once did three York - Leeds returns via Harrogate having just qualified and not in a link!

Great - good luck - but stay relaxed as the process now seems to take a ridiculously long time. Hopefully, it will be a lot quicker for you all. I loved the job and driving to Manchester Victoria from Leeds was a joy even if I had a pacer one day!

Sorry but shifts can start at any time so to say you won’t be travelling during peak times to and from work is a nonsense.

Am I right in thinking that there is a Zebra bid in to “electrify” the City Sightseeing and local York services? If so what is the point if they have already lost routes 22/23 to East Yorkshire and local routes 24/25/26 are subject to change and re-tender?
