    Guards on C2C trains.

I imagine that once they had already gone DOO with the 357s, it was more of a simple procedural change to then phase guards out for 12-car trains. Not to mention the relatively small numbers involved, it probably wasn't picked up as much. And the rail (and national!) media was VERY much...

    Part time Hours ScotRail

True, but the numbers are going to be single digit I imagine, plus you have to actually want to do part-time work.

    Northern - Trainee Driver - Manchester (14/03/24)

Whilst travel time is of course an issue, trainee jobs remain incredibly competitive and there could be any myriad of reasons why you were not progressed unfortunately.

Reading - Paddington route set for overhaul - BBC report

Tuesday and Wednesday have both been OLE related. Monday, whilst not being OLE related did necessitate an emergency switch off of power which took a prolonged period of time to restore. Extra overnight engineering works have been taking place since 2200 the last few weeks in response to the...

    Part time Hours ScotRail

How many people have FOURTY years service?! Scotrail hasn't even existed that long and that's before privatisation.

    GWR good customer service

It's generally good practice to make announcements every X minutes even if that is "there is no update from my previous message, apologies for the continued delay".

Northern issue - train becoming uncoupled near Hull

Perhaps it is related to a freight train in the area?

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Lots of people lost competency during Covid and the re-training could never be arranged. Also as already mentioned, some drivers may have done it briefly once in training on fixed length units (e.g. 345s and 700s) and never done it since as it is highly out of course. 1711497463 Sure, but then...

    GWR Waterloo and Euston

And the post I was replying to was asking about Elizabeth line services too. I’m fully aware of what GWR’s stock is capable of.

    GWR Waterloo and Euston

I was referring to Elizabeth line services & the 345 fleet.

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Not if you’re commuting into London a few (increasingly more it seems) days a week you can’t just drive. And London & SE travellers still make up a huge chunk of overall rail journeys - although the Elizabeth line is not on strike. 1711176069 Where are these “contingency” drivers? Excluding...

    GWR Waterloo and Euston

    Indeed, I mean moving forward.

    GWR Waterloo and Euston

Probably as far as Reading - Ealing Broadway. If the lines towards Willesden Junction (Poplars) are electrified, there is potential for a passenger service diversion but that is unlikely and may be more likely for stock moves.

    GWR Waterloo and Euston

Last Christmas already had trains terminating at Ealing Broadway so the plans are in place. Don’t forget the Elizabeth line is equally impacted though so will terminate at Ealing Broadway or divert too. The main risk is Central line overcrowding.

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Which would still be helpful for the business. No incidents, means less delays which means produce arriving on time. Obviously having some pride in your job helps morale which generally means people have more goodwill etc. But it's hardly a surprise this is at (near) zero for many railway staff...

    ScotRail Conductor applicants

Best to email for clarification as from what you've said you haven't failed at any stage yet. You didn't get any further emails, not even in spam/junk folders?

    ScotRail Conductor applicants

You're in the South West and applying for Scotrail? Did you explain you were relocating? Have you asked for feedback - at what stage were you unsuccessful as it isn't too clear.

    GWR Waterloo and Euston

Which does raise the issue that people will "wait" for through trains to Euston which will probably make them artificially busy as opposed to the trains that terminate at Reading (I assume there will be some to keep up frequencies).

    Avanti West Coast Cancellations

Sure, but that's going to be a very small % of the overall workforce.

Network Rail removes Islamic message on King's Cross display boards after fierce criticism

It's a "special notice" display. So where you might see info about upcoming weekend engineering works, events, or service disruption overview info. If none of those apply then yes it may show "Welcome to Kings Cross" default messaging. I see no harm in a "Ramadan Mubarak" or "Merry Christmas"...
