    Hull Trains 802: Construction updates

Nicely enough I recently saw an 802 graciously exiting the Northern Hadley Wood tunnel. It looked majestic and the livery is extremely slick. Have heard a few noises regarding the ordering of more units from Eversholt as the procurement process is now much simpler and streamlined since exiting...

Has anyone ever been "done" for not signing their railcard?

For example if you move country you are no longer a resident of the United Kingdom making you ineligible for a Railcard. With due respect it's also a niche situation, sorry for confusion!

I travel daily from BPK to NBA. On this occasion I finished school which is in New Barbet, and was heading into London for a meeting. My intention was to use Oyster until at NBA until I tap out at FPK, then on my return, tap in at FPK, jump off the train, tap out at NBA, and hop back onto the...

Has anyone ever been "done" for not signing their railcard?

Quite an interesting question you pose here. In British and international law as many of us now, the power of a signature can indeed not just be considered contractually binding, but also legally so too. As you are purchasing a ticket from the TOC, you are effectively entering into a contract...

Penalty Fare Issuing but no contact

The paper work I was handed simply entitled me to complete 1 single return journey. He took down my address which I was fully complaint in giving, as well as the name of my mother. I reminded him of my right to be informed of my mistake he thought I had made, what he is taking my details for...

Penalty Fare Issuing but no contact

There is an office at New Barnet station but it was not being manned at this time which is poor, so surely the child lock should have been disengaged from the gate. If not they were simply preventing a fully paying customer from using the applicable service.

So I use paper tickets the other way as Oyster card technology does not go out to my station Brookmans Park, only contactles for use with phones or bank cards. Nothing happened at FPK as the inspector gave me a slip of paper allowing the 1 way journey. The season ticket I use is for BPK to NBA...

Hi there, thanks for everyone's responses. The inspector scanned my card but as my Oyster had not been validated at the machine as it had not worked due to the child lock as I previously mentioned, the Oyster did not effectively know the journey had begun, so when the inspector scanned my...

Penalty Fare Issuing but no contact

Hi all, I have a question that I would like to pose in search of an answer to something that has been playing on my mind in recent time. around 2-3 months ago, I boarded a GN Train at New Barnet intending to delight the train at Finsbury Park. I tapped my Zip Card at the barrier as I am under...

How would you Rate your Local Station?

My Local: Brookmans Park Setting: South East of England, North of London, In Hertfordshire, and is 14 Miles from Kings Cross Architecture: The only actual building is a tiny walking through area, and then there is a rusty, worn, blue bridge, leading down to platform's 1,2 and 3,4 with only...

    GN Class 717

I do not believe that it is necessarily to do with the actual units themselves, but more so the lack of drivers to drive them, and of course unfamiliarity with the new train-sets, this was foreseeable, and in some ways avoidable, but GTR seemingly didn't appear to take many steps to prevent...

    GN Class 717

Yep sounds right to me. In total 25 units are needed as 'backups' as we all know about the extreme unreliability that is pervelant from the Franchise!

    GN Class 717

Can confirm that GN are now operating a fleet consisting of more than 75% running as Class 717's. They need to introduce all 25 Units, in order to consider it a full roll out, but with units 16 and 17 recently coming in, they haven't got long to wait. Already numerous 313's headed of too...
