Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Heard last week that the bridge at Church Fenton does have to be raised. Contractors have set another compound up next to the station to start doing interim strengthening work which is necessary and expected to take 9 weeks to complete. This according to surveyors is only temporary prior to the...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Interestingly everyone seems to be very tight lipped as to what exactly will happen at Church Fenton in respect of the possibility of using the intended HS2 alignment to bypass the curve which is supposedly paramount to maintaining line speeds and reducing journey times. A new highway is being...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Presumably NPR could still use what would have been the HS2 route to take out the curve at Church Fenton if required as the land is still safe guarded.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I understand at Church Fenton they are looking to add two additional lines and the the two options on the table are. A: Use the planned HS2 route and join where the current works have stopped just north of Church Fenton and put in a new section of track. B: Add two new lines going past Rose Lane...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

The integrated rail plan still leaves it unclear as to exactly what they intend to do, a lot of talk about pinch points and reducing time from York to Manchester so will be interesting to see how they get those speeds up at Church Fenton with the curve south of the station. Many in Church Fenton...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Interesting with all the talk about when the IRP will be released and talk of phase 2b of HS2 maybe cancelled that they have just further safeguarded more land from Wakefield to Church Fenton...

The integrated rail plan may shed more light on this when it gets released.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Information coming out suggesting they are looking at lowering the track at Church Fenton as opposed to lifting the bridge which is causing them all sorts of headaches, this of course would be a lot less disruption to Church Fenton residents.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

That is correct, the flyover would go more or less where Poulter's crossing is now.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

A few residents and land owners have now had a zoom meeting with Network Rail and they have confirmed that they are looking at putting in a new highway and flyover off common lane near the entrance to Pouter's yard. The flyover would cross near the unmanned crossing to Pouter's land giving...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Not heard any reports on Ulleskelf but am aware that Murphy's are now setting up a big compound on the site of the old Gasgoine wood coal mine as a base for supplying equipment etc to other sites and are expected to be there for many years suggesting a lot to come.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I am referring to the road bridge on common lane which I know has been surveyed with a view to future works, totally agree with you that a link between Ash Lane and Common Lane would make sense and would be far less disruptive as it crosses farmland only.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

A lot of people in Church Fenton are waiting to see what the next step is with regards electrification of that track as the bridge will need to be lifted if they are to continue through Church Fenton station. The current works stop north of Church Fenton where HS2 is supposed to join so there is...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

A meeting is being set up for land owners which will hopefully give out more details as to what is being planned, I will update as soon as I have more news.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I understand home owners at Rose Lane Church Fenton and land owners on that section of track who use un-manned crossings to access fields have been notified of a potential new highway and flyover being built with a view to closing those crossings.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I am sure some of the work at Church Fenton will be permanent, the roads they are putting in certainly do not look temporary as they are putting drains in and run off areas as you would a main road. Also the road that they are putting in down the back of Sandwath estate is down as a HS2 access...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

It may shed more light on upcoming works when we finally get to see the integrated rail plan which is supposedly imminent.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

It is getting very active at the Church Fenton compound now next to the Sandwath estate with a lot of heavy plant putting in new roads etc in preparation for the forthcoming electrification.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

All households in Church Fenton have received a letter saying that the current works are phase 1 of 4 as part of the Transpennine Upgrade. The first phase stops just short of Church Fenton where HS2 joins the existing track to York but as yet no information on phase 2.

Transpennine Upgrade - what should happen East of Leeds

Been told they are about to start sheet piling anytime now from just short of Church Fenton back towards Ulleskelf where the line is on a raised bank, this from what I understand is so the line can accommodate much faster trains.
