    Pacers on Long Distance Routes

During the days of Arriva Trains Northern I remember a Newcastle to York via Durham Coast and Middlesbrough, which was normally operated by a Pacer. Travelling down the ECML at 75mph with a 225 blasting was quite something when sitting near the doors! Edit - Photo of the service leaving...

DB Class 60s to be withdrawn

That would be a surprise. 60063 was currently under going overhaul and has been inside Toton for near 2 years, that would of been first on the list to complete if the claims were true, surely?

New Year's Day 2024 in the North East

I boarded the 12.36 train at Nunthorpe along with about 40 others, mostly going to the football. One thing I noted was the 5 or so passengers waiting at Gypsy Lane as we sailed passed…….

    Disused railway depots and sidings?

If I owned any carriages or wagons, the best place in my opinion would be an industrial site. Most are very secure and have lots of redundant sidings. In the North East I can think of: Sunderland Docks Hartlepool Pipe Mills Lackenby 4 Grid and Loco Sheds (Northern we’re looking at a few years...

    Freightliner groundstaff

Just looked at the advert, says mobile. However FL currently only have 1 train in the area that is the daily Felixstowe to Tees Dock and 3 ground staff cover this. I suspect a lot of the work will be at Tyne Yard on the ballast work or it could be on the new work out of Hartlepool (if it ever...

That was Longbeck, the sign was removed about 4 years ago. Castleton Moor on the Esk Valley still has a Regional Railways logo on a gate near the main road.
