[trivia] Highest number of trains to depart from the same station at the same time

Manchester Piccadilly had (before the May 18 TT change) xx46 departures to Glossop, Stoke and Crewe (via Man Airport). If the signalling & dispatch god's aligned you'd see the sight of 3 323s snaking out of Piccadilly station throat at the same time.

TPE Mark 5A coaching stock progress

Nothing more than running around at 100mph and having beers in the evening. All 195/331/397s and Mk 5as have been thoroughly tested there, but were they doing start/stop runs simulating stopping at stations, back up to 60/70mph and then braking again to simulate real world conditions? Doubt it...

Euxton WCML overhead wire problems 24 May 2019

It appeared to be the Down Fast OLE through Euxton Jn that was damaged. Because the OLE is headspan on this section of the WCML all lines were shut, presumably until the severity can be established and status of lines found out. Because the damage was through the junction, it effectively...

    Newton-le-Willows

Earlestown is actually nearer Newton-le-Willows town centre than Newton-le-Willows station is. Earlestown is a convenient stop for TfW as I presume the low line speed for the curve negates a 1minute dwell time, whereas Newton-le-Willows is a preferred station (as mentioned above) for P&R, and...

GWR operating short 'HSTGTi' sets (see diagrams section for workings)

It is. There's a 5Z81 from Doncaster to Hull, operated by Hull Trains. Presumably it's a handover for insurance/legal purposes between ROG(?) And HT.

That's IW1 diagram, which this morning was an IET from Paddington to Plymouth and back. So unless they've repaired the power car (defective Speedo), it will an IET.

Part of WCML to be closed Acton Grange Junction engineering work

That's strange, because in the early 90s my mate and used to ride between Preston and Crewe on the 'drags' when Acton Grange Jn was closed for a full blockade. Trains were diverted via Bolton & Manchester Piccadilly, via Wigan and Edge Hill (reverse), and I even recorded one via Stockport and...

    Tracking a train?

Best thing I can think of is use Real Time Trains and pay close attention to platforms (actually used) and follow it's workings .isn't fool proof however as if multiple platform occupations occur might be difficult to track the right train .
