    Eyesight requirements for Conductor

    I did my medical for conductor last week. It was a simple test - stand on a line and read the smallest print that you can comfortably see. The doctor tested me WITH glasses, and WITHOUT. She then tested me with my contact lenses too.

    From speaking with others, it seems there is no trend regarding the recruitment process. Obviously it will depend on the demand at the specific station. All you can really do is wait, or drop the recruitment team another email. Best of luck!

    Thanks, had my assessment today for the role of Trainee Conductor based at York. There were only 4 of us on the assessment day. I made it all the way to the end, so guess it’s a waiting game now....

    Still attend the assessment day! Imagine how frustrated you’d feel if you found out your eyes were acceptable and you’d prematurely cancelled your assessment. If it’s any consolation, I wear glasses too. I’m under the impression that aslong as it can be corrected (i.e. prescription glasses)...
