I received my job offer, contract and T&C's last week for the new date of 10th August. I was one of the guys that should have started my training back in May but due to Covid it was postponed. My notice has been handed in at my current employer and I can't wait to get started.

I know guys from my depot that were on courses and they all got sent home and cancelled training, probably changes from training centre to training centre though to be fair. Nothing ever seems to be the same across the board. Okay well hopefully things get moving again soon, I'm looking...

Who did you check with mate ?

I take it everyone filled out the form confirming they still want to start the course and then returned it to the email address given in the letter. Just wondering if anybody receive any confirmation back that they'd recieved our reply ?

Evening gents, I recieved a phone call from Cherene at HR today confirming that the course will indeed be postponed until a later date. She then sent me through a confirmation letter via email that the offer is still there if I want to pursue the trainee train driver role with Freightliner...

Yes she seemed happy with it mate, she just said she'd recieved it along with my medical and all was okay and she's now forwarding it on to a woman called Sheree that will be in contact soon.

Might be worth giving Tracey a call if you haven't had a date for your medical yet mate, and she'll advise you on the DBS then.

I would imagine they would be pretty keen to get us started once this is all over if they do postpone it mate.

I've just got off the phone to Tracey from HR and she has confirmed that it is a bit up in the air at the moment whether the course is going to go ahead on May 4th or not yet because of Covid-19. She is finishing up all the bits she has to do regarding medicals and DBS checks and forwarding them...

No not yet mate, I left her a voicemail yesterday but I know she's a very busy lady. I will chase her up tomorrow because I want to check she has recieved my DBS check and also my medical results should have reached her by today as well.

You get a paper certificate which you recieve through the post and then also you get a link to view it online a couple of days before the letter arrives. I just forwarded on the link and access code to HR.

Yes mate, I just went through the gov website. It was really easy and mine came through in the post today.

I know last week HR were crazy busy and they were planning on getting all the medicals out asap. I imagine the rest will be getting sorted this week. Depends how this lockdown effects everyone now though I suppose.

I recieved an email from HR on Thursday with my medical arranged for today.

I've just had my medical today in London and from what I've been told from HR the course starting 4th May is 100% going ahead. Fingers crossed !
