New Class 700 Thameslink Carriage Maps

it also still shows Orpington/ Pettswood as being all day and they've not been since 2020

Catford Loop to Blackfriars - why?

When the South London Line service (Victoria to London Bridge v Denmark Hill) was withdrawn back in 2012 there was a proposal to replace it with a 2tph Bellingham to Victoria Service. In the end the money was diverted to complete the Overground extension. Arguably there is now a west end...

Metcam Networkers to be withdrawn at the end of the year?

it was from Dec 2012 they began to run all day, 7 days a week (the same timetable change that saw the South London Line withdrawn). I used to commute to Denmark Hill Victoria for 3 years till we moved to kings cross, 4 cars very rate in the Peak (and were heaving if they were) but off peak quite...

Hypothetical diversionary routes if lines through Kent House are blocked

As it happens they do run the stoppers by the Loop when there's a diversion, stopping at Denmark Hill only, with the Rail replacement buses running between there and Bromley South.

    Thameslink: final state?

There would always have to have been 8 Car trains for the Catford Loop and for the St Albans stoppers (and the Welwyn?) this was what network rail were suggesting prior to the politicians involvement:

Rerouting all Southeastern Mainline services into Victoria (and via Crystal Palace?) or Waterloo - could it work?

IIRC the max capacity on the routes to Victoria & Blackfriars in the Peak was 12 via Herne Hill & 8 via Catford. Off Peak Catford Loop drops to 6 because of freight. At the moment in the Peak they're running 10 via HH (8 VIC/ 2 BFR) 6 via Catford (4 T/L 2 VIC). This drops to to 5 & 8 3...

FANTASY: redesign your own TOC's timetable

My tweaks are mainly around London, Chatham & Dover lines: 2 x Rainham/ Gillingham to St Albans -Stopping to Bromley South, Fast to Denmark Hill, Stopping to St Albans) 2 x Sevenoaks to St Albans -Stopping via Catford, Stopping to St Albans 2 x Orpington to Luton - Stopping via Catford, Semi...

Thameslink rerouting oddity (9K45 routed via Herne Hill on 31/10)

Stopping at Herne Hill is what has happened in my experience on all but one occasion. it's useful enough for Denmark Hill and certainly enough people disembarked. The Driver/ staff made it obvious it was going to Sevenoaks and is a frequent enough occurrence at weekends when there's engineering...

Why do peak Victoria to Gillingham trains call at Crofton Park & Bellingham and not Catford

To be honest they might as well, they'll have caught up with Stopper from Sevenoaks by then.... a generous 20 mins is allowed from Bromley South to Denmark Hill. On the the return it's 12/13mins

    Lewisham station potential improvement proposed

I Think 'pre pandemic' rather than a 'year ago' more realistic, time flys post apocalypse... I don't think we're anywhere near 'the next level down', just squeezing levels to the minimum they can get away with.... the peaks have (i believe) been left round about where they were. It depresses...

Route validity question - Clapham Junction to Finsbury Park

You could also take the Overground to Denmark Hill and then a Thameslink train to Welwyn, with one cross platform interchange at Denmark Hill during the Peaks or two (second at Blackfriars) off peaks. Takes about the same time too, 45 mis according to Journey Planner (as changing to Victoria...

    Thameslink trains becomming tired already?

As regular user of the Sevenoaks service I agree with other posters that's its the loos which bad on the 700s and i'd definitely think it's got worse since the pandemic. it's the outer london stretch that has the worse reputation on that line i think, St Mary Cray and Bat & Ball in particular

Could Thameslink Rainham Trains Run via Lewisham?

i was thinking more of reinstatement of the all day Orpington service instead of the Rainham one, with that going back to South Eastern so they can have the flexibility on intervals. Obviously I'd prefer that the Catford Loop went back to 4TPH, but if that's not on the table for cost purposes...

Could Thameslink Rainham Trains Run via Lewisham?

You could run Luton to Orpington by Catford easily enough. The paths are all there, they just didn't go beyond Kentish Town off peak. The amount of peak extras to Luton has dropped a lot, particularly in the evening peak. So run the Thameslink trains via Catford (where they're basically the...

How is it decided which TOC manages a station and is there any benefit in it for them?

I was curious as to how it is decided which TOC should manage a station and if there is benefit, cost to them for so doing? My question was prompted by the fact that my local station (Denmark Hill) is served by three operators, Thameslink, London Overground and Southeastern and despite the fact...

    Fixing Thameslink

Oh i didn't mean to drop the off-peak frequency through the core, just switch the St Albans to run Sevenoaks/ Orpington instead of Sutton. But in times of disruption you could run them out of the bays as the service recovers.

South London Line before London Overground

I used to regularly commute from Denmark Hill to Victoria and agree when running the Dartford Train was always the better option. Indeed in its last year of operation the Dartford Train left VIC at XX:39 with the Southern one at XX:41 I remember from bitter experience that missing the Dartford...
