    Excellent - thanks. I’ll take a look.

    Histioric timetables

Can anyone please advise if it is possible to obtain a train timetable from 1983? Specifically I’m looking to find out when past the hour trains would have left Stirling and arrived at Glasgow Queen St?

Dalmarnock - is there still work to be done?

Hello, I went through Dalmarnock earlier this week for the first time in a long while and when the train stopped I was amazed as I thought it had been modernised for the Commonwealth Games. Granted, I was only on a train that had stopped so I was not upstairs, but looking at the platforms...

    Haymarket

I see that the revamped Haymarket officially opens today. Has anyone experienced it yet? It must be better than before and will be a huge improvement. I have not seen the plans or any photos yet, but understand that there is a new concourse. I'm looking forward to a visit soon.

    Edinburgh day rail trip

You could do a return to Stirling or Perth if you fancy going to a bigger town/city - that whole area up there is lovely. Bridge of Allan is a nice village to visit if you get the Dunblane service out of Edinburgh.

40% of Scotrail trains late I think I know why

So, we have the following: - two timetables (working and public); - a train is not late if within five minutes, or ten minutes on some routes; - there are multiple tickets options available but you can only buy certain tickets at certain times; - platform display boards state trains have...

    doors stuck

Delay was caused by the doors being stuck on the 1715 Anderston (originally from Dalmuir I think) to Coatbridge Central.

    doors stuck

The communication from Scotrail last night was awful - when the train arrived at Newton the previously stuck doors were opened and Newton and Cambuslang passengers got off. However as the train was for Coatbridge Central, all the remaining passengers didn't know if they had to wait or get off...

    doors stuck

Currently stuck at Cambuslang on the 1715 from Anderston to Coatbridge Central. Driver has been on tannoy to apologise and advise that he will do his best to try and fix the driver operated doors. Been here for 15mins - a lot of unhappy passengers. Not much we can do but sit and wait! It's...

    Airbles

http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/H14899/2013/11/10/advanced Hi, I was doing a search for non-passenger services that go through my local station, Airbles, and noted 375E which starts and terminates at Slateford Depot but appears to cover a huge amount of track, across to Glasgow then...

live train information is not fit for purpose

I have similar experiences with trains between Motherwell and Edinburgh which sometimes involved connections at Bellshill. I recall writing to Steve Montgomery, Managing Director at Scotrail to inform him (and also to make myself feel better) and I got a quick response from Scotrail. The...

    Edinburgh Airport

I flew from Edinburgh Airport yesterday and whilst sitting waiting to take-off, I noticed a train going by, not too far from the airport. What ever happened to the Edinburgh Airport Rail Link? Was it shelved purely because of the trams project or were there other reasons for it not going...

    Buying new season tickets

Very interesting article here and the author is completely correct in saying that it is ridiculous that in the days of smart phones that people can't use these to purchase tickets then to travel on trains. However, smart phones don't go through ticket barriers and volume of train passengers...

    People's least favourite stations

My top few would be: Motherwell - considering it is a WCML station and has a large number of passengers and services, it is very poor in terms of waiting rooms, ticketing facilities, car parking is awful, access terrible. Plus the station building is 1960's style - a bit like the rest of the...

    Level crossing incident at Motherwell

http://news.stv.tv/west-central/232385-trains-delayed-after-man-killed-in-collision-on-level-crossing/ Not nice to hear. I know that level crossing very well and it sits on the WCML. Traffic can get held for a while in the mornings and evenings due to a number of express commuter trains to...

    Least scenic lines

It probably depends upon how you define 'least scenic'. Some might say that industrial areas are scenic in their own way, others would disagree. I guess it is all subjective. For me I think the journey coming out of Edinburgh between Haymarket and Carstairs is not very scenic. I find it a...

    Newton, Lanarkshire - works

I had wondered if they were planning to allow Edinburgh bound trains to stop at Newton. Given the huge amount of housing there and big car park I would have thought it would be an ideal commuting station for Edinburgh, but then Uddingston and Motherwell are not far away and both of them have...

    Newton, Lanarkshire - works

Apologies if I have missed this on previous threads, but does anyone know what work is being done at Newton, Lanarkshire? It appears as if they are building a new platform in between the split in the tracks where it divides to southside of Glasgow and the WCML into Glasgow. This is a bit...

    Ticket barriers - Glasgow Central

    Ticket barriers - Glasgow Central

I'd just like to make an observation about the ticket barriers at Glasgow Central when I arrived this morning on the XC from Dunbar on Platform 4 at 8.27. The barriers were continually rejecting most tickets from passengers and then the staff member was jumping between five gates to let...
