    TPE Plan for the future

Our local media in the Northeast (e.g. Newcastle Chronicle: https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/newcastle-manchester-trains-transpennine-timetable-27941604?utm_source=mynewsassistant.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=embedded_search_item_desktop) is reporting that one of the...

    LNER to London Liverpool Street

Hi all, Was the LNER service 5Z12 into London Liverpool Street last night that's showing on RTT a genuine service, or an anomaly? If so, was this just routine route learning or is there a planned diversion that way at some point soonish?

    Durham service 204 & 204A

Hi all, I'm new to the "bus" side of things, but I was wondering if anyone knew where to find out who a new operator of a bus was going to be. I've been told that: Service 204 & 204A The contract for this service has been awarded by Durham County Council to another operator (from Go North...

    Oxford to Banbury

Wasn't there a "student pass" ticket (some kind of discounted season) issued to some people via schools (it may have been a PTA product, thinking about it?)

LNER unreliability caused by staff shortages

With the number of staff shortages, you'd have thought that there would be a lot of advertised vacancies... except I can't seem to see any!

Why are there no clear rules on what should happen when a train is cancelled?

I have a vague memory of a member of train crew walking down a train cancelled at an intermediate point handing out tickets for a different service. From recollection, it was somewhere on the ECML at a commuter stop outside London, and the tickets were for (then) FCC trains. Perhaps this was...

    ECML major disruption (26/07)

Looking at Twitter, there seem to be passengers stranded at Peterborough and Huntington still :/

    Advance tickets during strike days

I should probably have said that I've already bought the tickets (about a month ago) for all of these journeys!

    Advance tickets during strike days

I have been planning some rail journeys this month, all of which used advance tickets. Do we know yet what my best course of action is for: (a) advance journeys on strike a day, (b) a return ticket with the outbound portion on a strike day and the return portion not on a strike day, and (c)...

Trivia: Train services with no intermediate stops

I'm pretty sure there is / was a York to London non-stop service at some point?

IET's grounded - what would you run?

If the question is "what would I run", I would certainly include spot hiring anything with a mainline certificate from the heritage railways (with their crews) - by being closed for a lengthy period, they've lost a lot of income, and this would surely give them a bit of a financial kick-start...

How many trains could realistically fit onto the ECML north of York post-HS2 and NPR?

You mean, under my house? :p Only if I can have a private halt on the line! Seriously though, there's so many mine workings under here, you'd struggle to get a stable tunnel through without collapsing a lot of the buildings in the area. Why not just follow the Leamside all the way? The only...

How could new ECML stations (such as Reston) be served? Should the Reston project be abandoned? Should other stations be built?

If you re-open the Leamside line, there's definitely places with commuter demand on it, but it's probably 90%+ Newcastle-centric. ECML wise, the only sensible station would be one built where there is a lot of carparking, and where dropping a car off for a week or two wouldn't break the bank...

What is a “circuit breaker lockdown”

It's actually a pretty good plan, if we want to reduce the spread of this virus and the impact on the NHS, as it enables peaks to be spread out, and hence more manageable. It honestly doesn't seem as if these local lockdown measures are working, and we need something more severe to keep this...

Could more HSTs be converted and adapted to remain in service?

This might be a silly question, but could the HST power cars run with MK4 coaches, as there are certainly a fair few of those lying around?

    Arriva's revamped website

I do wonder what proportion of bus users actually use the timetable these days. When the strike happened last year, I shared the emergency timetable with my local residents group, and (I wish I was joking) was asked how one goes about using it. Everyone seems to be so used to journey planners...

Remote working preferences (in the longer term)

I'm actually moving from 100% home working to having an office, because meeting clients at home can't be done in a COVID-secure way very easily, and my partner classes as vulnerable. I also know a company which is moving to bigger premises so that they can get more staff in when social...

TPE Mark 5A coaching stock progress

Can confirm that they were on the line behind P2 in York at lunchtime today.

Does Restriction code 'TO' allow break of journey?

I have a return SVR with this restriction code, which mentions nothing about breaks of journey. Is it valid for a break of journey on the outward leg? The ticket is York - Manchester; I was considering stopping for a coffee with family on the way, as it seems the Mk5s won't be in passenger...

(Not Quite) My idea - Sleeper pod trains !

I was visualising something more like this; I suspect the only issue being the narrow corridor which you'd have on a train would make making the beds difficult.
