    Request stops

I spoke with a guard senior conductor last week when he was walking through the train before departing from Stratford checking tickets and asking if anybody wanted Bearley or Claverdon. I told him that in the public timetable there was no longer any mention of them being request stops. He said...

Train departed 3 minutes ahead of schedule

The crew must have realised their error because, according to RTT, they waited for 3 minutes at Furze Platt and departed on time.

    Birmingham Moor Street gate line

New gates have been installed, although open when I came through this afternoon. The previous 2 wide gates, one for entry and one for exit, have been replaced by 3 gates - two normal width gates, one for entry and one for exit and a bi-directional wide gate.

Proposals for three new West Midlands railway stations to be developed

There’s going to be a problem whatever name is chosen, if you include ’Willenhall’ as part of the name, then there will be two new stations in the West Midlands with very similar names 35 miles apart. But if you exclude Willenhall, then theres the risk that people who have been told “There’s a...

    Warwick Station

The work they are doing is an intermediate activity to re-open the subway between the two platforms. The subway was closed when the work started and remained closed when things stopped for the re-design. The diversionary route between the 2 platforms is about 500 metres.

    Headbolt Lane progress updates

On iOS the station name does appear. The version history in the app says that, for version 9.6.4 released a month ago, support is added for new stations, one of which is Headbolt Lane. Perhaps you need to force an update of the app?

National Express West Midlands limited stop routes

I suspect the 25X is nothing more than a positioning journey that would otherwise run empty to/from Rugby

    December 2023 Timetable Change

I don't think that this has previously been mentioned, the second XC service per hour between Birmingham and Nottingham that was withdrawn in May because of platform capacity at New Street is shown as being reinstated.

Mystery of new poles in West Wales

The sign by the track tells the driver where to stop, the one on the platform tells passengers where the front of the train will be.

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

Since the introduction of the 196's on the Nuckle line the performance has fallen off a cliff. This Monday to Friday only Wednesday had a full service, today is particularly bad with 22 out of 36 departures from Kenilworth being cancelled. Most cancellations have cited train crew issues as the...

Gate lines at Marylebone and Moor Street

An operational oddity is that on WMR trains arriving at Snow Hill the onboard announcement includes a reminder to have tickets ready to exit through the barriers. This isn’t said as the train arrives at Moor Street. From experience, the gates at Snow Hill are open more often than those at Moor...

Snow Hill Lines Likely To Stay at 4tph Long Term

There is one 2 car (half) diagram according to the PDF timetable published on the WMR website. The diagram starts the day as 4 cars but reduces to 2 with the 10:47 departure from Shrub Hill to Stratford. It then becomes 4 cars again from the 15:16 from Shrub Hill to Dorridge, before ending the...
