    dirty exterior

Used to watch the cleaners doing a heavy clean. Basically buckets of detergent and mops, walk up the side of the train washing the sides as you go, rinse off with hose.

    Incident at Riddlesdown (22/03/13)

It can affect you in different ways, sometimes it helps to talk to a friend or family member. A few weeks back, I went through a red light in my car and received a fine and 3 penalty points. Had to explain to police I never saw the red light or indeed the junction, too busy thinking about the...

    Voyagers engines at stations

They do suffer from oil leaks, burst pipes, loose fittings, gaskets etc. The breather problem has finally been sorted by a new design. Normally they do not run hot, however when a fault develops they "derate" and cut the power back. They use hydrostatic fans for cooling; low oil, faulty pumps...

East Coast Stock - Air Conditioning

National Express was attempting to reduce staff and looking for numbers through redundancy. Many gave a sigh of relief when they went.

    Carriage clearance

Its an old wives tail about laying in the 4ft and you will be alright, truth is in most circumstances you will be wiped out. Very little space under modern rolling stock.

    Gsm-r

Interesting comments in their forum regarding activation of alarms, most while under maintenance. Not surprised as very little information passed on to techs working on sets. Thanks for the link

    Gsm-r

Used to leave control in forward and DSD alarm sounding while walking down train to check engines (Voyagers). Local Bombardier staff member pointed out new system and made us aware we could no longer do this, so much for communication :D

    CrossCountry Voyager 'refresh'

If they have been shut down for a while they tend to lose coolant, that is why they get checked every evening before they go into service.

    CrossCountry Voyager 'refresh'

The engines will be shut down so therefore quieter / different sound. The challenge will be getting the engines to start when you require them.

    Class 390s

Maintained at Polmadie for several years, pics are a couple of years old. Voyagers have their own repair shed now.

    Electrodiesel Class 22x?

Their are only two technicians in Scotland who maintain the QSK19. Any risk to the set through failed engines could possably see sets being routed to Central Rivers for repair under electric power. Just wondering if their jobs would be at risk? Electric power cannot be good for an engine...

    Electrodiesel Class 22x?

I wonder how this will affect Cummins UK? How long before this would be in operation? TIA

Terrified passenger pulled along platform after train doors close on his ankle

I am not familiar with the train but would have thought "sensitive edge" if similar to the Voyagers would have opened the doors. Maybe a bit of compo heading his way?

    Should drugs be legalised?

Some users also walk a fine line between what some consider normal and others would call a stoner. Socialwork take a dim view where children are concerned, ensuring the safety of the children takes a priority. Probably your right. Now thats a difficult one to answer, a lot of variables to...

    Should drugs be legalised?

Suppose you also have to consider how much Cannabis someone smokes. Heavy use does cause brain damage / Paranoia etc. Kids are often removed from families due to risks from parents / partners. Not uncommon for children to live in squalor, starve and get abused (physically and mentally) by...

Craigentinny has noise restrictions due to local housing estate, maintenance staff cannot sound horns or carry out DEPT tests on Voyagers (Run engines at full throttle).
