Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

I’m not in a position to be driving an electric vehicle (rented property, parking area separate from house), but have noticed the huge depreciation of smaller electric cars; recently seen adverts for Peugeot e-2008s on 73 plates for half their original list prices and a year old Vauxhall Mokka-e...

BT Tower being sold off to US hotel chain!

I worked for a contractor doing repairs and refurbishment on three seperate occasions during the 1980s and early 1990s. We refurbished what had been the revolving restaurant area, turning it into an area to be used for corporate entertainment, and the floor still revolved. Whilst engaged on a...

What was your favourite bus type as a kid?

Growing up in Portsmouth, I was always fascinated by the unusual Crossleys, plus the Provincial exotica across the harbour in Gosport, together with the Lodekkas etc to be found in Fareham and the Southdown Queen Mary’s.

What was the worst car you ever owned.

Renault Modus - my late father had an 06 plate one which is still going with my father in law; Mark 3 Mondeo’s headlight bulbs were very hard to change - I took one of the two I had to Halfords for new bulbs and they wouldn’t touch it….

Petrol and diesel prices - how much have you been paying?

Whilst driving on the A47 between Peterborough and Wisbech on Saturday I saw two garages that had a 30p difference between petrol and diesel, and one with a 31p difference.

    Best Car You've Ever Owned

My best car is probably the one I have now, a 2020 Kia Niro HEV - great fuel consumption, excellent build quality and well equipped; favourite was a 2005 Skoda Fabia vRS bought at six months old and 5k miles, did over 70k in three years, in gear acceleration could put many far more expensive...

The Royal train and HM Queen Elizabeth II funeral plans.

A nice touch would be using 70000 for the last part of the journey, having done the same for her father.

    Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway

I visited with my wife today; by the time we got around to booking online this morning only the 1500 departure was available, but it wasn’t too busy and we had a compartment to ourselves. It was our first visit and we enjoyed the scenery, and found the staff very friendly - shame about the rain!

    Your first car

I passed my test in 1978, but didn’t buy a car until I moved out of London to Rickmansworth in 1985 - a 1982 Fiat Strada 105TC bought for £2950 from a colleague at work. Had over 20 cars since then, currently drive a 2019 Peugeot 2008 1.5D auto.

As a daily user of the A1307, I couldn't agree more.
