    St Albans Abbey branch

Thanks everyone for your very helpful replies. We're only travelling one way to St Albans which is why the Oyster PAYG is rather better value than the through ticket Brondesbury Park to St Albans Abbey. Have bought one way off peak tickets WTJ to SAA from LM to collect at Brondesbury Park.

    St Albans Abbey branch

Want to use this line to visit St Albans tomorrow. It's much cheaper to use Oyster PAYG to Watford Junction than to buy a through ticket from my home station of Brondesbury Park. Do I remember correctly that there are guards/conductors on these LM trains who will sell you tickets ? Thanks...

    Closed Stations Journey quiz

Belses Wasn't there a station at Newstead between Melrose and St Boswells ? My Wignall's Atlas is also showing a station "Netherfold" between Leadburn and Eddleston. I think this must be wrong as I can find no such place.

    Railway General Knowledge.

Difficult to give any clues as to these rather obscure place names. You can find the correct answer in Wikipedia if you make a judicious search. Can someone tell me at least what country / countries these 2 border crossings are now in ?

    Railway General Knowledge.

Not too hard I think: When travelling overland by rail to Moscow immediately before WWII in August 1939 via Berlin, Warsaw and Minsk, 1) what are the 2 places on either side of the Polish - Soviet border where passengers had to change trains ? and 2) in what country/countries are these places...

Rail centres that have fallen from grace?

I was at Christ's Hospital school 1972 - 1979. I can just remember the superb 7 platform original Edwardian station before it was demolished in 1973. See http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/c/christs_hospital/index.shtml Still at least there remains a decent hourly service to London...
