    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

I was thinking more woselt as that is what I thought the point was about and not just the times when staff decide on mass not to do overtime.

Comedic "things you would ban": minor things that irritate you

I would ban government press conferences always going to the BBC, ITV, Sky's News and then the rest in that order. Although go give Rishi Sunak from credit, recently he took a question from the I newspaper first and the BBC last. In my dictatorship world it would be randomised as to who asked...

    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

Do you work in a sector where they can decide your shifts 7 days in advance and this can be any hour of the day or night? In fact what sectors out there offer thus kind of working?

    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

They can indeed get me a taxi but at a cost. I'm not sure who pays for such costs. Central government or the local authority. Some costs such as hall hire are paid by the local authority but wages are paid by central government. I once had to get a taxi due to torrential rain. Replacing me...

    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

I must admit, for booking tickets to the theatre in London, some months in advance, at times I have booked on Sundays as almost zero chance of to a strike that day. Sometimes that isn't possible and a chance is taken. I missed a theatre show in Janaury and lost £13. It was a preview show. I...

    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

I work at the elections and can only get to my polling station by train. The bus doesn't run early enough. Whilst some staff will be near their polling station it won't be all and people can't vote without us. 1713804498 Are you including polling station staff in your calculation? A polling...

    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

I'm pleased that I was correct in my thinking the unions wouldn't strike during an election week. They clearly care about the public being able to vote. 1713792807 Which companies does this not apply?

    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

Well if an incoming Labour government prioritises not imposing unfair terms and conditions, this will be resolved quickly and they can move on to other important issues. 1713791556 Well the government are selfish.

I wonder how many customers are thinking the next general election ballot can't come soon enough?

[Trivia] Bus journeys faster than a train journey.

That doesn't count as you have to change by train. Otherwise there would be examples of two nearby stations on seprate lines requiring a long route between them by mutiple train being slower than a bus.

[Trivia] Bus journeys faster than a train journey.

I was surprised to find the other day that the bus from Guildford to Farnham was fast than the train service at certain times of the day. So 19 minutes vs 23 minutes by train. At other times it seems to be 23 minutes, which matches the train service. I'm using today's times, may be during...

Bought ticket on forum not given ticket for full journey

It's a shame Raileasy can't claim their out of pocket costs back from the RDG, minus cost of original ticket of course.

    National Routeing Guide update

I think there should always be easements when that part of the line is closed. After all if they aren't needed, why create them in the first place some of the time? If they don't have enough staff to do this work then that is a discussion to be had and that might be the outcome but at least...

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

I'm not sure it does as it just shows one set of split ticket savings but I booked two separate journeys in the one transection. I have now downloaded the recepit and it has Penrith to Guildford Manchester Oxford Road to Penrith Total share of saving fees However there won't be any saving on...

Clearing the Air - RDG Report

I am on a mobile and the forum software, through choice or no choice, insists on not showing signatures in mobile view. No idea of benfit for needing to do so or even if I can change the default behaviour myself. I will briefly switch to desktop view.

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

It would be useful if I could have a breakdown of splitsave costs per journey, rather than the splitsave only showing at the end of the transaction for all journeys purchased in one go. For example at the end of Feburary I booked two journeys in one transaction. One of the journeys work are...

Request for help: LNER Fare Trial Ripoff

I still haven't but hopefully I won't need to and a link will be provided to the video in due course. :D

Request for help: LNER Fare Trial Ripoff

Once the video is completed, do post a link here and I will share it with some people I know, one of whome has an interest in railways more generally and quite a few Facebook friends. One needs to get such a video viral as then the journalists might pick up on it.

Request for help: LNER Fare Trial Ripoff

I quite agree. Whilst I'm not aware or savings on that route, I know of savings elsewhere that I would mention publicly. In some cases I would tell friends and they would say that is expensive. I would then explain it is cheaper than the alternative train fare that others might by. :D So the...

SWR to withdraw public access to Guildford Station Footbridge

It is possible they had less pavement works needed compared to Guildford. Also the area inside the booking hall is bigger than the back of Guildford station. I'm just trying to understand the differences that led to the diffeerent approaches.
