    Barmouth Bridge - No Pedestrians?

Last toll for adult pedestrians was, apparently 90p (correct as of June 2013). Daily Mail quote (so it must be true) 100,000 people a year using Mawddach Trail and the bridge (I would suggest this is bridge use, rather than the full, nine mile, Mawddach Trail). So, up to £90,000 in revenue...

    Barmouth Bridge - No Pedestrians?

A toll was charged up until a couple of years ago - 60p for pedestrians. This stopped when the family who ran the toll booth moved away and Gwynedd Council couldn't get anyone else to do it. If they made an effort and employed someone else to take the tolls, I'm sure no-one would mind paying...

    Barmouth Bridge - No Pedestrians?

Now, I could save myself several minutes typing by pointing out that this story is on ITV News and in the Daily Mail. Enough said! The fact is that Gwynedd Council are 'consulting the public' on ways to save £9 million off their budget. They already pay the £30,000 to Network Rail, and the...

    Virgin Guard Assaulted

Pleased to say that, it does .... or at least should do. Magistrates Courts in England and Wales have been issued with sentencing guidelines to the effect that assault on any public servant, (which includes police officers), but specifically in relation to transport staff, train conductors, bus...

Stations you don't want to go to/be at

Dovey Junction is not one to avoid! Splendid isolation, maybe not so much in the winter, but this time of year it's great. Where else can you see breeding Ospreys, on their nest, from the station platform! Live feed here: http://www.dyfiospreyproject.com/stream

    Arriva Trains 158 Query

1st unit definately went via Dolgellau to Bala up the A494. Not sure which way after that, but easiest route for that size of load would be A5 to Chirk then A483 to Chester.

First half of one unit loaded onto Alley's vehicle at Barmouth today. There are some photos on various FB pages, but not mine, so I won't link to them.

New bridge nr Penrhyndeudraeth (Briwet Bridge)

Yes. The 21:20 off Machynlleth gets in to Pwllheli at sometime after 23:00 and stables in the siding adjacent to the platform road. It then works the first up service in the morning. That is all assuming the bridge is open at Penrhyn!
