Absolutely - it was only the heat after a long day that made the walk a pain.
There was an even larger event chucking out at Finsbury Park, so the less said about the Tube journey the better.
I went to see Primal Scream at Alexandra Palace and that was closed after the gig.
It was the weekend before the heatwave (so still close to 30c at 10.30pm) and nobody seemed to know it would be closed.
Which meant a lot of hot/bothered/drunk/stoned people struggling.

I think a route North West out of Cambridge to the ECML somewhere South of Peterborough would be beneficial - especially if your Norwich corridor was getting built.
Cambridge is a major centre and only reason ably accessible from London for a decent journey time.

The joint line was built bypassing Sleaford and then a spur to the station added.
So it wasn't quite built as a freight avoiding line, but other than ECML diversions, that's all it's ever been.
Metheringham still does (or at least did last time I was there) about two metres in front of a southbound train.
The train has to wait for the passengers to clear the crossing. It's quite unnerving to cross in front of a late driver who seems to be doing some kind of engine revving to get you...

The Grantham to Lincoln line was right to close.

I've never really seen the point in this really. Both stations' main destination is Leeds and I can't imagine there's that much crossover traffic from the Dales onto Halifax and beyond. Unless the idea is just to run the East Coast service into the Interchange (which has better onward links, but...
The other thing to bear in mind is the distance to your local station.
An hour or two commute is one thing, but if you end up with a half hour drive at either end because of traffic, that could be a real killer.
The Travelodge at Southwark is perfect for this. Two minutes from the tube on the Jubilee which runs to Wembley.
There is a Premier Inn there, too, but it's a few extra minutes walk (but a bit nicer).
