    Guided Busways

Indeed, though since Halton Buses went under not many buses use the busways now. Back in the 70's with Crossville etc, they were very well used.

    Annoying television adverts...

Probably aimed at the same crowd as the 'On The Beach' advert.

    TFW Liverpool-Cardiff

Realtime Trains still has it 2hr next Monday.

    Fare advice - commuting

Would an LNER Business Carnet be any use? Seem to be similar to the TFW M Tickets I used to use when I commuted by rail.

Circular / 'round robin' tickets - What examples exist?

A Cheshire Day Ranger gives you plenty of choices around Cheshire, Manchester, Wirral and Liverpool with options for most of the routes in the area as far East as Macclesfield etc.

Is there anything to see/do at Crewe?

Hack Green isn't too far away, though you will need some form of transport to get there from Crewe..

    EasyJet orders 157 more planes

More good news for the Airbus plant at Hawarden... Judging by the number of Beluga aircraft flying over our house recently the wing lines must be very busy.

    M6 Toll

When I was travelling for business regularly I used the M6 Toll road, and frequently saw mobile camera units on the overbridges approaching the Toll Booths Northbound.

How or why did you develop an interest in railways?

We has the line from West Cheshire Junction to Mouldsworth line literally at the end of our garden, so seeing huge freight trains pulled by Class 25, 40 and 47 regularly pass by must have has an effect.

Severe thunderstorms to affect some services 12/06/2023

Still some delays in the Frodsham area due to signalling damage yesterday evening during a storm.

    Manchester Airport security queues

There was a suggestion a couple of years back that Manchester was to get pre clearance for the USA. Not sure where that is up to, or whether indeed it is still on the cards.

Lines that closed with the minimum of fanfare.....

West Cheshire Railway/CLC branch line from Mouldsworth to West Cheshire Junction. Closed in 1991.

Eurovision Liverpool, a rail nightmare waiting to happen.

Looks like TFW have put an hourly(ish) schedule back in place for the day of Eurovision on the Chester to Lime Street route.

    Where did Britain go wrong?

Perhaps why house prices are up from a multiple of 2.5 times a single wage in the early 1970's to around 10 times now.

    Northern Ireland Brexit Trade Deal

Politicians really should take the time to read the details of agreements, protocols, green papers, white papers etc before committing to support what is in them. Details matter, especially when dealing with the EU who have been shown to be masters at crafting the finer details.....

Do you think that the UK switching to electric vehicles is realistic?

The charge points are already an issue, perhaps not the SuperTelsa jobs but I run about 10 of the lower powered commercial units (well known brand) at work and already I'm having to have the firmware upgraded because newer models can't connect to them. The VW ID4 was one that had problems.

What was the worst car you ever owned.

I had a 1987 blue Ford Orion 1.4 which was awful to drive and the exhaust fell off in the middle of rural Ireland. Lots of minor niggles and eventually traded it in for a Mondeo. I did get it cheap though. It replaced a run of three Opel Mantas, 1.8GT, 1.8GTJ and a 2.0GTE. All three were rust...

First car : lease or buy?

I paid £500 in 1987 for a 1975 Vauxhall Chevette with 20000 miles on it. Insurance was £500 for TPFT. Cheap motoring, got all my minor bumps and dings out of the way in it and sold in for the same price I bought it for a year later. I wouldn't have a new car as a first car.
