It is, I went the other week! Another good way of getting from Wuppertal to Solingen is S-Bahn line S7 - it goes over the Müngstener Brücke, the highest railway bridge in Germany.

Depends how far you're willing to stray. Wuppertal isn't a huge distance away from either Cologne or Dusseldorf, which both have sizeable tram/light rail networks as well as being great cities overall. Wuppertal itself isn't much to write home about in my book.

Shame the GTW72s are no more (the old orange and blue units), although their replacements are perfectly adequate.

A very nice set of photos - I went to Lindau on holiday in 2005, and not a lot had changed then except that I don't remember anything painted in the old DB mint livery.

One good place for photos that are actually underground is Highgate on the Northern line. The platform is a lot longer than the train, so it's a lot easier to get a photo while the train is stopped to avoid it being blurred.

I've been taking photos/videos on the Underground for almost 3 years now, and only twice had a problem with staff. In both cases, rather than arguing I just said "Ah ok" and moved on to the next station!
