Damage to property whilst on the train

Is a passenger obliged to give their details to another?

    Politicians and travel expenses

Off topic, but I suspect quite a few of the train/tube drivers on here get over £74k when overtime is added in. I myself have had a salary higher than this in the past. I suspect there will be at least a dozen forum members outside the realm of train driving whose salary is over this.

    tesco clubcard vs nectar

I've not noticed anything on there that's better than double for a while.... Is there anything current?

    tesco clubcard vs nectar

My Sainsburys vouchers are more like £4 off when you spend £20. I've been in Lidl and Aldi once each - don't particularly plan to go back. Then there's Asda who don't have a card at all.

    tesco clubcard vs nectar

Hello, Noting that clubcard points can be redeemed at Red Spotted Hanky and nectar points at VTEC, is there a quick answer as to which is best? Assume both supermarkets are near my home.

Surprised that some people pay for everything by card

This is an interesting thread. I'm normally a cash person - I tend to support independent cafes/newwsagents where I can, and don't want them to get saddled with fees. I also find that a _lot_ of places will do a 'discount for cash' in cases that one doesn't require a receipt there and then...

    Scottish Money

Good tip sir. Conversely, I tried to pay one in using an automated paying in machine at Lloyds Bank and the note (forget where from now) was rejected. I was offered a £10 northern Irish note as payment for a £3 bus fare (myself driving the bus, in Yorkshire) recently, which I cheerily...

Are the elderly not respected enough?

Maybe because they're so expensive to keep! Bus passes, healthcare, state pension. And for what? To prolong the inevitable. The amount of my thirty something friends who say "I wish they'd pop off" in respect of their elderly parents is staggering. I do not wish to be a burden on my family...

    Card processing discussion

10 years ago, I implemented a requirement to type the last four digits into the EPOS system (of a high street retailer) for precisely this reason. Expanded to the 7 numbers on the sig strip

Many thanks. I must say that I've just selected 'lightweight' and so far I like it.

Changing between mobile & full version of Forums

Hello. About three weeks ago, this forum stopped coming up (on my BlackBerry) with the mobile site, and instead launches the full site. Is there a way to get the mobile site back, please? I found it very useful. Regards to all. Sorry if this is the wrong section to ask in.

    Another station cat found

I'd rather think of Sarah Brightman prancing around, if that's all the same. HOWEVER whoever changed the title of this thread has totally missed the point: I am surprised not by the cat, but by the fact that there's a tiny booking office at what I thought was an unstaffed station. The cat...

    Another station cat found

I've just used a small station (for the fifth time in the past month) and to my shock I've just discovered it has a booking office complete with station cat. As I was alighting my train, I noticed a small sign (on a solid door) saying "ticket office through waiting room" and then on the board...

CRB checks (now Disclosure and Barring Service)

Quite, yes. The reality for us is they can do what the heck they want. Though to give them their due, they are good at responding to reports of naughty pupils.

CRB checks (now Disclosure and Barring Service)

Quite. I am Manager of a bus company, and we have had it taken to extremes. We run a registered service (predominently for schoolchildren, but available to anybody) which halfway through its journey calls at a High School. The high school have threatened to refuse us access (to this...

CRB checks (now Disclosure and Barring Service)

From thread http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?p=1346735#post1346735 Does anyone have more information as to the types of 'soft information' that might be included in future disclosures? I assume that one possibility would be non-recordable offences (ie byelaw prosecutions) which...

People coming here for prosecution advice

I'd expect that people expect we'll be as good as the forums for speeding tickets and parking tickets. On those forums, people post 'I was caught doing 80 in a 30 zone whilst drunk and without insurance please help me get off' and other members happily do. I do wonder though whether there are...
