    We has the line from West Cheshire Junction to Mouldsworth line literally at the end of our garden, so seeing huge freight trains pulled by Class 25, 40 and 47 regularly pass by must have has an effect.

    The line between West Cheshire Junction and Mouldsworth closed down after the signalbox at WCJ burnt down, though I suspect the line would have closed anyway due to the lack of traffic.

    At the end of our garden was the line from West Cheshire Junction to Mouldsworth so Class 25, Class 40 and Class 47 were the mainstay of my early childhood hauling freight just yards from the garden fence.

    Early 1970's between Helsby and Runcorn. Used to visit my Aunt who lived in the Old Town. Services stopped in the mid 1970's so my then is was the bus until my Mum learned to drive in 1978.

    Helsby to Rock Ferry. Used to be frequent, now there are a couple of trains a day as far as Ellesmere Port.

    Smoking and non-smoking carriages. Specials. There always seemed to be specials off to the coast or for holidays, even seasonal ones.
