    London Bridge reconstruction works

There a problem world of difference between the old set up at London Bridge where TL had to weave inbetween Southeastern services and having their own platforms like in 2018. As for stacking up due to a minutes delay, the signalling in the Core is not planned to be at its maximum ever in...

    London Bridge reconstruction works

London Bridge Thameslink trains will have a higher dwell time there due to more passengers expected to be boarding/leaving the train.

    Gordon Hill - loop restoration

Worth pointing out when the track layout was settled on Thameslink was going to be running a 4tph service from London Bridge to Dartford so it's actually doing the same as NR originally planned for.

That a four or eight car?

    Gordon Hill - loop restoration

As I understand it there should be nothing stopping 387/700 calling there. 700019 has done some testing on the Hertford Loop. I think, and it is think, the class 717 SDO database will be shared with the 700 one so its one system thats used on all three lengths of trains. There is the...

    Gordon Hill - loop restoration

Apologies if it seems like point scoring. And no I honestly didn't see you weren't being serious. As for passenger transferring figures, that's a very good question. One I cannot personally answer. Also many on the Moorgate line may now find Farringdon, City Thameslink or Blackfriars a...

    Gordon Hill - loop restoration

Idea is at Gordon Hill to allow the 4tph in high peak to terminate without causing issues with the 8tph going north of there. Ignores the issue that Dartford is 10 cars where as the NCL is limited to 6 cars and would require a complete rebuild of the whole line (platform length plus passenger...

Network Rail will be stripped of its control over Britain’s train tracks

Well public seem to be willing to do that themselves! I do think one or two places it could work if done right others would be a mess

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

AT the moment no-one is sure if its feasible but if it is, current plan is just 4 units for Windermere services. New build are rather expensive so this is a cheaper alternative.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Currently 319427 is being looked at to see if its possible. Another 3 units will be done if it proves successful for use on the Windermere branch, however it seems the word has reached the lne user group and they aren't happy at the idea. No its a bi-mode proposal with diesel engines on a 319.

No lighting at Three Bridges yesterday (19/10/2016).

Reduced intensity on a station will still close it as would no lights. Lighting is set at the level to keep a station open so your idea wouldn't help keep the station open. And again there is a cost to this. Multiply this by amount of stations etc and its a huge cost.

No lighting at Three Bridges yesterday (19/10/2016).

Some yes but limited usage. Ie signalling and GSM-R phones work but don't believe PCs etc do so no checking times etc or any service alterations via normal means in box I've worked Inn Most stations are feed off the national grid. Providing back up generators isn't cheap and will require money...

No lighting at Three Bridges yesterday (19/10/2016).

Putting out emergency lighting before reporting it isn't sensible at all. Especially as it took take some time. Think of it this way, let's say it takes five minutes to walk the omplete length of a platform so 5 platform station like Three Bridges is 50 mins just to walk the length of all...

No lighting at Three Bridges yesterday (19/10/2016).

There's only a few staff overnight but worth mentioning Thameslink services which call all night don't have guards. Local power failures haven happened a few times recently affecting the signalling center too.

Indeed. Nice to see my bit of work is still helping people. Was originally done as a training aid for staff.

    London Bridge reconstruction works

I had to use the station today due to engineering works meaning Tube from Vic was a no go. Going from the station to Tube wasn't sign posted at all from the barriers onwards. Only because I spotted the Underground sign after leaving the station (and roughly knowing the layout) I managed to find...

    London Bridge reconstruction works

My understanding was Bedford - Brighton back Jan 2018. Thameslink's Dec TT change will happen in Jan with increase on MML to 16tph peak before hitting 20tph in May and 24tph in Dec. ATO turn on is by May TT too IIRC. However final Dec 2018 TL network map to be announced this summer.
