    Manchester Metrolink master thread

Modern units all have the same problem as they are design to regulate the power to the units and ice interferes with that and the units software don't like it. The Bombardier Electrostar model n the mainline has the same problems. One issue that people have mentioned is the fact that...

    Manchester Metrolink master thread

There is faster passage through the area due to removing the block sections. Rather than one at a time with the block section multiple trams can travel at the same time meaning there is less time queuing which is where the time saving occurs.

    Tramlink Sutton Extension Map

Believe this is the first time a map of the proposed extension of Tramlink to Sutton has been published. http://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/10557415.Boris_tells_City_Hall_there_is__reasonable_business_case__for_extending_tram_route_to_Sutton/

If your refurbishing the trams to the scale needed, it would have made more sense to add this modification.

Docklands Light Railway to Bromley and Euston?

No as they are automatic trains. They'd need to be fenced off so better to keep up in air and not take road pace. Jubilee Line Spur is useless for DLR as its the wrong gauge for a start. Also would rob Jubilee of a good escape clause. Otherwise if you had any problems at say Westminster...

No because all southbound's will go from one island platform and all northbound from another so you only have to stand in one place to access trams in a certain direction. Same applies for new St Peters Square station.

Docklands Light Railway to Bromley and Euston?

Thanks for that. Haven't head of that extension but provides there is plenty of places the DLR can go to.

I suspect ORL2 testing will begin soon with driver instructors learning the route first.

The extension to Shaw opened this morning with 3001 doing the first trip. They even left a double M5000 tram packed at Shaw on the Rochdale platform.

Picture of a double tram at Rochdale has been shown on SCC. This now means all Phase 3a lines have had a live tram on them. However South Manchester is the first Phase 3b to have live trams. The Big Bang seems to be alive and well with all this testing in one month on three different lines.

Maybe but mixing it with another service could be a pain in the arse. Letting Eccles and MediaCityUK through services would be logically better fit. However too much road running (large amounts of on road travelling) might not be so good. Plus one on road incident could cut service on other...

They have done overnight testing yesterday with TMS working it seems. The CIS even showed Bury Interchange as the westward destination at Edge Lane. Believe it was tram 3055 that did the trip.

However they now said they are working on the OHLE in October so no trams for awhile but does look like they are making adjustments prior to starting with driver training. That training is expected to take some 6-8 according to the rumours. That's going to be very tight to open on time for the...

There has already been a T68 to Velopark last year during gauging trials. As they are being phased out, its unlikely they will work any new extensions as they will be need to run doubles on the Bury & Altrincham lines while TMS is not working/Mosley Street not open.
