Can a driver fast track an applicant for a trainee role...

Having passed the tests (a year ago today in fact) I can safely say it has no bearing on the initial application whether internal or external. Remembering that thousands of people take these tests with TOC's yearly, and on average there is a 40% pass rate, only 5% (if that) of those who passed...

    London Underground

The drivers position was just advertised internally and will be again come September some believe. The same goes for CSA positions. And you don't have to wait to after probation to put an application in, just to start the job, and considering the whole process (including training) takes over 6...

    London Underground

Never. Last round of internals is in process. If that fails they open it up again (to internals only). Agreement with unions back in 2008.

    Structured interview for drivers

All examples you give must be about what YOU did. If other people were involved or/and "took the lead" more than you did, try and think of another scenario or twist it. Best of luck!

    New Driver

I think you'd be better off getting in touch with GA's HR mate, as they'll have the most accurate information. Anything posted here won't beat that! Congratulations btw! :)

    New Driver

I of presume they'd have told you this when you had your interview, got "taken on" & it should all be in the contract?!

    Another question about Platform assistants

I trained with the night man at Chichester! He's a lovely bloke, and I reckon he'd be happy to help if you need any! Just tell him "Dave from VIC" sent you! :D P.S. All the best with the interview.

    CSA Role - Medical

Ah good stuff mate! Do you know where you're working yet?

    CSA Role - Medical

That shouldn't matter. The medicals with TOC's (for station roles) I've been through have been no more than a weight/height measurment, vision & hearing test, blood pressure and urine sample (for drugs & alcohol). I'm techincally "overweight", and when I first started was on the higher end of...

    Station Staff (LUL)

Got the call, just moments ago, start on the 4th April (although could've started earlier)! A very quick, but thorough process. Wish all company's acted like this. :)

    Station Staff (LUL)

7 odd years in customer facing roles, coming up to 4 & a half in the railways mate. Got a call yesterday telling me I'd passed the telephone interview, am just awaiting a date to attend the role play/tests/interview (they had tomorrow but I'm working at 1415, and apparently it lasts until...

    Working outdoors - railway jobs

If anyone's found a way to keep their feet warm while wearing steel toe shoes, I'd love to know!! :D

    FCC 2nd Stage Assessment

Firstly, congratulations. :) As far as I remember, the reactions test is the one where you're sat at a computer with some headphones, pedals & specially made keyboard with different colour buttons. The screen tells you which buttons/pedals to press, and you have to keep up. A tip: It runs 2...

    Information on FGW help

I waited a month, a mate waited a day, a few on here a week or two. No set time it seems. Best of luck though. :)

    Number of applications

First attempt with HEx 4 years back. Numerous tries with other TOC's for various positions where I got nothing (sometimes not even a reply). An attempt with LOROL for a Guard, where I screwed up in the assessment due to not listening. An attempt last year with FGW for Trainee...

Why did Southern Rail dismiss me?

I imagine there's better people on here who can be of assistance from a legal side, but from a realistic side (and 2 years as a union rep); there's nothing you can do. For a start, being a contract worker, you'll find you don't have many (if any) of the same rights as a full time staff member...

Have the goal posts moved a lot?

I apologise if it did, I had no intention of that. :) Thanks. Great advice. I will take it all on board. :) Agreed. I've got plenty of time left to obtain the role, and am sure as I get older it will prove less difficult, in part thanks to life experiences. :)
