You get used to it. Especially when your ears get used to steam train whistles, rather funny...makes all the small children jump.

3 minutes late is not 'disgraceful' by any stretch of the imagination, it's well within the five minutes window TOCs are allowed, there could of been a serious reason why the train was late, but instead you think it's disgracceful safety comes first. Bit hypocritical arn't we?

The problem for TOCs is getting the balance right. Have too little First Class and your Standard Class passengers are left standing (but in hindsight can be moved to FC if needed). Have too little FC and you face lots of problems. As Tom said. It depends on train loadings and the idea is to...
