Greater Anglia Vacancies -Trainee Mainline Driver

Saw this thread and thought I'd stop by and have a look as I applied for this last spring too and had largely forgotten about it until going through my emails the other day. I completed the online assessment at the time and never heard back so interesting to hear that they're still getting in...

Network rail - Train Delay Attributor

Can’t add too much more to what 800002 has said but the route I work for does 12 hour shifts, though that’s not commonplace anymore. Consistency and thoroughness is key as data quality is audited constantly and communication of course. Making sure the templates are used including phoning the...

Qualified Drivers Southeastern - All Depots

Yeah, kicking myself on that one in hindsight.

Qualified Drivers Southeastern - All Depots

I have noticed that there's not many young faces in the cabs here so that explains it I guess. Pity I never applied for the new TL depot when it came up a couple of years back - see them passing on HS all the time.

Qualified Drivers Southeastern - All Depots

What is it about Ashford that makes it so unlikely though? I know HS never takes on trainees but I'd have thought the mainline depot would need an intake at some point?

Qualified Drivers Southeastern - All Depots

Yeah, can't say I've ever seen any trainee posts advertised here so far which is a shame. Relocating to the SE metro area isn't something that's probably on the cards really - sooner move further afield if anything but relocation is a tricky one in general.

Qualified Drivers Southeastern - All Depots

Well, I for one would be very interested if it were to go out to trainees at some point - I live a 10 minute walk from the depot here!

Avanti West Coast Trainee Train Driver Euston and Wolverhampton

Got the rejection email today. Clearly didn't quite get the questionnaire answers right which is a shame as I've done pretty well at them in the past. I see it says about the 6 month window - is this just for reapplying for Avanti or is it all TOCs?

    First time job

I appreciate all the replies here. I do find it somewhat saddening that it's so difficult to get first time employment. I've been preparing a CV and I'm actually quite surprised at how many small bits and pieces I've done through the years, even if they aren't paid employment. Things like...

    First time job

To be honest if there was one near enough I'd definitely consider it but as I'm in an area where there are lots of houses but very few facilities and I'd have to go into Ashford, I'd probably lose money just to do it.

    First time job

I'm afraid I never got around to that. Lydd Airport didn't want the liability when I asked and then I got caught up in leaving that school and ended up studying at home. Well it's a reasonably good bus service. All that said there's a possibility my parents and I might be moving back towards...

    First time job

I must say whilst I'm aware of all this, I still have difficulty becoming comfortable with owing anybody anything before I've even got a penny for myself. Well this is just the thing. I don't know what I'll be wanting to do in the future and I'm quite open with my search now. I've seen how my...

    First time job

Thanks. I'd guessed that might apply but it's good to know. I'm 19. I don't I'm afraid which is why I'm keen to see where it would be possible to join with no prior experience. I know they're highly sought and I can see the appeal not only as somebody a with a keen interest in railways but...

    First time job

Hi, I'm coming up to a time in my life when change in inevitable. I've studied at home since I was 14 for a variety of reasons. I've got a good set of GCSEs but my A levels haven't panned out quite as I'd hope. I have studied Maths and Politics and whilst I'm interested in and do well in...
