Copenhagen to Hamburg - which side of the train to sit for the best views?

Just done that route and agree the south/east side of the train is best.

Great, shame I'm in training courses all next week so can't watch!

    Norway train travel advice needed!

Don't worry about the Ringbu, I recently did this, the bus replacement is very very easy and follows the same valley it took nothing out of the trip and the bus was 10 minutes. So even if it isn't open it shouldn't put you off doing the route. But based on the progress, I suspect it will be...

Oslo - Trondheim Line Flood Damage

When I went past on the bus they were constructing a new access road now I remember. And I thought it was odd but now seems obvious as the track has been laid across the previous access.

Oslo - Trondheim Line Flood Damage

Just came to post that some track relaying on the approach has occured. Must be getting close for the bridge relanding.

Oslo - Trondheim Line Flood Damage

Didn't get chance to go to Andalsnes this time. We were dissapointed from Trondheim North to find a group from Great Rail Journeys which just took over the buffet car didn't buy anything and leant directly onto some of us while sat down to get pictures without asking. Made me proud to be...

London to Munich by train - Eurostar connection/what to do if delayed.

HOTNAT did not get entertained when I had an issue. But it was during mass strike action. I did get a refund for tickets I bought for Eurostar minus about £10. I have always since just been more wary at Brussels as it takes stress out of the trip for me personally.

London to Munich by train - Eurostar connection/what to do if delayed.

My recommendation would be to instead get a through Eurostar ticket to cologne on the 13:25 to cologne and pick up a Munich ICE from there. Also I would personally want more than 66 minute connection at Brussels but that is just me having been bitten twice by the ICE services to Brussels.

[SE] Vy (NSB) abandons night trains in Sweden from Dec-24

I agree, one party leaving a contract at a contractually agreed point, is not the fault of the company leaving. I suspect it will be no skin off their nose to get SJ to run it and that's what they'd have done anyway.

Oslo - Trondheim Line Flood Damage

The new pier appears to be fully formed now, but work continues to the two steel spans and to fit bearings to the pier. Went past on the bus yesterday, the site looks bigger in person than via the webcam, very efficient replacement operation and got loco hauled on the north side of the...

    Czech Carriages north of Hamburg

Concur had my first trip on that in November from Bratislava to Prague and was utterly blown away.

    German Rail in decline ?

My journey through Germany was uneventful too, on time Eurostar into Cologne, on time ICE to Hamburg and on time departure from Hamburg towards Copenhagen. No complaints. Didn't see many services announced as delayed at Köln either.

    Czech Carriages north of Hamburg

Yep that must be it. I did not know they ran as far as Flensburg and obviously my googling wasn't effective! Thanks folks.

    Czech Carriages north of Hamburg

I am on a train from Hamburg to Copenhagen and twice now we have been passed by a full set of Czech carriages. I've googled for a while and cannot work out where they have come from. First set was just north of Hamburg so assumed coming off a depot for a service to Prague. The second was...

    German Rail in decline ?

How soon do we think strikes will be announced. If I remember correctly they can't strike this Saturday but could do on the Sunday? Specific question as doing Cologne to Hamburg Saturday and Hamburg to Copenhagen (and beyond) on Sunday.

Rumour: Extremely Low Quota of Interrail tickets on Germany/France High-Speed Trains

I am increasingly finding that point to point is coming out significantly cheaper than interrail. This has been the case for Leeds to Syracuse and back to Rome, Leeds to Stuttgart, Ljubljana, Vienna, Bratislava, Prague, Frankfurt and back to Leeds, and also for our up coming Leeds to Bødo trip.

UK to Sorrento, Italy by train

Man in seat 61 is very useful for working out what's possible, but it's a bit of a Wikipedia website. I get stuck in it for hours even if I just Google a simple thing.

I believe they have installed either the Koffer Dam or formwork for the new pier today. Another step closer.

    EC Mimara and EC Croatia

We recently did a Ljubljana to Bratislava trip that involved changing at Maribor onto what was the Zagreb to Vienna EC service. We were the only people in our carriage on the two carriage train from Zagreb to Graz from Maribor. Changed at graz, very efficient cross platform onto a full and...
