WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

Very very good post. And that is one of the key things at play here. Many commenting saying common sense, are very used to slam doors, on the network possibly historically and on heritage railways. There are now families going on the Jacobite who have never ever used one, or even seen one...

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

So what living life is fatal is not the attitude society expects these days. And that is the view of wider society not just the ORR. There is no point pretending it should be. This is not a conspiracy from the ORR. They expect us to keep the people paying us to travel safe, that is in no way...

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

That is a an oversimplification at best. Who actually research's safety records of train companies before boarding?

    KWVR Steam Gala 2024

There is engineering work affecting services but there is a good rail replacement vintage bus from Keighley to Ingrow.

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

And how far they could have got during the low season to have carriages ready for when the season returns.... I have absolutely no doubt a lot of the press will paint this as H&S against the world.

    Preserved DMU updates

As a track worker I'm a big fan of the LEDs but can see why others might not be.

Can't help but vote for my home DMU but it was a tough choice!

    KWVR - Infrastructure Upgrades Funded

As long as it can be staffed of course more trains and triple the number of signalboxes requires more volunteers!

    KWVR - Infrastructure Upgrades Funded

Aye but when several volunteers have repeatedly said it's a mistake and it's not happening they have been ignored...

    KWVR - Infrastructure Upgrades Funded

Linespeed was 50 in BR days I believe. However as it won't be turning into a commuter line it's all irrelevant.

    KWVR - Infrastructure Upgrades Funded

I think (know) we need to await KWVR comments on this, council may not have announced the right thing.

    Trouble in North Yorkshire

It could be but in general they meet people more doing the work. I do Pway/civil engineering so they meet people on gangs.

    Trouble in North Yorkshire

I deliver training courses on a HR, for my sins, and I've noticed a marked change in attitude with younger members really keen to come on them learn and feel like they are progressing. We try to link our safety courses to a ladder with our equivalent of PICOP at the top. It does help...

    Trouble in North Yorkshire

I agree that it is a general outlook on society, I nearly said the same in my post. It's sad really.

    Trouble in North Yorkshire

I think it is definitely a two sided thing. Paid staff often don't appreciate volunteers (or their actions are perceived not to) and volunteers often expect paid staff to do everything because they are paid. Paid staff often number few and are overworked with far wider ranging remits than is...

    Trains running 12-20 November?

Not recent! They have done it for as long as I can remember (15+ years) apart from the COVID years.

    Volunteering

I would just say that volunteering on a heritage railway is just the sort of thing to make you more social, which will ultimately set you up well for adult life. I have had many shy, anti social young people come through my department on a heritage railway and quite soon become significantly...
