There are also fewer trains running from Royston- it looks like 1 stopper to Kings Cross and 1 Thameslink via Redhill to Three Bridges per hour. On Previous Saturdays with buses from Royston to Cambridge there was also a fast Royston -Kings Cross non stop service but that is not showing in...
There are still a few peak services which split at Cambridge. E.g. the 1739 from Kings Cross is 12 coaches Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with front 8 coaches going to Kings Lynn and rear 4 terminating at Cambridge.
I assume the morning equivalents into London join to form 12 coaches at...
The Thameslink website indicates that all GN Cambridge and Peterborough services will run into Kings Cross tomorrow so nothing into the Thameslink core.
Plus the schools traffic. Large numbers travel to St Christopher School in Letchworth by train - a coach picks up outside the station around 8:30am. Many also travel from Baldock/Letchworth to Hitchin Boys’ and Hitchin Girls’ schools.
There was mention on the radio over the weekend that the plans had been revised during the Covid restrictions to require prebooked time slots to limit the crowd numbers at any one time, but it looks like this isn’t been implemented.
The stopping pattern on the Thameslink website indicates that the hourly Kings Cross to Ely stopping service will call at Welwyn North and Knebworth plus the Cambridgeshire villages.
GTR do have a brief summary of amendments on their timetable page, broken down by service group (Great Northern, Thameslink, Southern)

This week there will also be additional passengers from the Piccadilly and Northern lines using the GN services on the tube strike days so 2tph will not be sufficient.
The peak Kings Lynn/Ely fast services are not calling at Royston and Letchworth at the moment. So Royston and Letchworth passengers have to use the Brighton or stopping services. There are a lot of complaints on the local Rail Users Group, especially from Royston passengers. Many are...
It has been 12 coaches for a few years before last year. There was a time the old 8 coach 16:44 departure had all seats taken over 10 minutes before departure and some days you struggled to board it at all. It was extended to 12 coaches in 2016 or 2017. Even then it was common for all seats to...
Are there any plans to restore 12 coaches to the peak GN Kings Cross to Ely/Kings Lynn services ?
A few months ago you could have a bay of 4 seats to yourself plus also the empty bay opposite.
The 16:39 from Kings Cross this evening had all seats taken plus people sitting on the floor and in...
Future closure dates now listed on the Great Northern website. Includes a temporary timetable with reduced services st Kings Cross for 3 months 1st March to 4th June 2021.

Maybe to allow for an earlier arrival at Harrogate ?
There is a LNER empty stock movement that is due to arrive at Harrogate a few minutes after this service.

Shepreth and Foxton northbound platforms were lengthened to avoid the trains blocking the level crossings when calling at the stations. Southbound side and both platforms at Meldreth are still only 4 coaches long.
I think the intention was the off-peak services would run as 8 coaches through to Kings Lynn.
In the peaks a number of the services are 12 coaches between Kings Cross and Cambridge - so I assume some joining/splitting would still be required for these services at Cambridge.
We had been told a...
The Harrogate services are extensions of the existing xx:33 Kings Cross to Leeds services in the odd hours, starting in December.

It is a pity that the new 0806 Kings Cross to Lincoln does not call at Stevenage.
All of the other York/Newark/Lincoln stoppers call at Stevenage. There is currently a 1 hour gap in northbound services from Stevenage (0755 to 0855 both Leeds services) The current York/Newark stoppers from...
I think there are only 4 services each day starting from Royston now, and 3 of these are between midnight and 2:30am.
The only daytime terminating service is the 0824 arrival from Brighton.
The other peak services that used to terminate at Royston now terminate at Baldock.
