I think the peak services in the new timetable starting from Baldock/Royston to Kings Cross are also booked as 2x365s.

I saw a 700 going northbound through platform 3 at Stevenage around 9am this morning. I was sitting in a 365 at platform 1 so didn’t see which unit it was.

Presumably because the doors on the 700s are wider so they need a wider ramp otherwise there will be a drop and also potentially move in use if they don't fit into the doorway properly - these ramps would not fit on the other stock - e.g. 365s/387s. The wider ramps will presumably also be used...

Ambleside is included in the Windermere Plusbus area - though it is a bit cheaper to pay on the bus if just wanting a single to Ambleside. plusbus is best if wanting Grasmere. (or buy the stagecoach central lakes day ticket on the bus which gives larger route coverage to Coniston and Langdale)...

The original plan for that line was to run onwards from Windermere via Grasmere to Keswick but Wordsworth and Ruskin amongst others objected as it would bring lots of tourists to Grasmere (somewhat ironic really as nowadays a lot of them go specifically to Grasmere to visit Wordsworth's house!)...

On the current timetable at lot of the trains are only in Windermere for about 5 minutes before returning back to Oxenholme as they need to connect into an onward service to London. So not much time to recharge but presumably even 4-5 minutes would be better than nothing. Platform 3 at...

The screens for today's 07:09 at Letchworth (05:51 from Kings Lynn) said 1st class was in coaches 4,5 and 12. However it also said the train was formed of 20 coaches (it said 16 yesterday) !!!
