    The loco is by the buffers on platform 8. There is a barrier preventing access to the platform without the special timed tickets but you can see part of it from the end of the platform. There was a 387 on platform 7 so when that departs there would be a free view for a few minutes from that...

    To be fair, the Welsh Highland has always had higher fares. It is about 2hours 15 mins for the 25 mile single journey. there are long and severe gradients so it will burn a lot of coal which has doubled in price since 2019.

    I was on this tour. The 90 had problems releasing its brakes. So it was unable to move out of the way to allow Tornado to couple to the coaches. Tornado was used to move the 90 and dump it in a parallel siding. Though this required a 6 part move until Tornado was able to couple to the coaches...

    Bluebell Railway

    The National Trust gardens at Sheffield Park are about 15 minutes walk from the station - turn left and follow the path across the field. It has a good tea room and the gardens are worth a visit - free if you are a NT member.
