    DOO now coming to Sweden

Weren't they referring to the differing circumstances of national network Drivers and LU Train Operators in lone working, in the rest of the post? If and when provided, true. If we're going to give any thought to what the OP said though, straight DOO is being proposed...

    DOO now coming to Sweden

Varies, only a few weeks ago I know of a group trashing a train who had a good go at breaking down the Driver's door while in a station, they were only noticed in the first place by the Guard. I'd say I've had four situations in the last year that I wouldn't have wanted I or the Guard to deal...

    DOO now coming to Sweden

It'll likely be dealt with at the next station, where you'll both be present. If the disorder is such that the train is brought to a stand or the Driver is incapacitated, the Guard can get to the front unit via the ballast.

    DOO now coming to Sweden

Both in terms of liability and circumstances that you could find yourself in, such as dealing with disorderly passengers alone, potentially on trains that are otherwise empty, like described by the OP.

    DOO now coming to Sweden

I think the point is clear for everyone to see. If you want to have yet another generic debate about the general safety of DOO, maybe start another thread? 1678223108 Edit: In response to what was added subsequently: I think for Drivers working under DOO is less safe, but that it isn't most...

    DOO now coming to Sweden

That those who argue "DOO is safe" have little interest in what the OP was discussing, which is what it meant for them as a Driver. It doesn't need to be explained if you read the whole post. You've subsequently provided great supporting evidence though.

    DOO now coming to Sweden

It completely ignored the point made, which was in response to what the OP said, which I quoted. There was no point made in the five words you quoted, which you took out of context to try and make your own point. I'm glad we're doing this in public for once though. Which weren't relevant to...

    DOO now coming to Sweden

I'm not sure why you omitted the rest of the post very selectively quoted, but in doing so it does essentially confirm the point I made in that paragraph...

    DOO now coming to Sweden

That's certainly not a standard that DOO has had to contend with here. The "DOO is safe" crowd don't really account for such factors, which makes most discussion on the matter rather awkward. Where I am you feel the need for two people in case one of us gets battered, but that's hard to...

Larissa, Greece: Freight train collides with passenger train (01/03/2023)

A potential factor in my mind as @stuu says is that running bang road was so common that they just accepted whichever road they were given without question, but which would seem a very casual approach to working under what must have been understood to be a very ropey, degraded system of work...

Larissa, Greece: Freight train collides with passenger train (01/03/2023)

I don't buy into the idea that the Driver didn't realise they'd been crossed over or notice they were on the opposite line. Rather than discounting the failure of communication, it seems fundamental to me that a lack of a clear communication of what was being permitted is at the core of what...

Larissa, Greece: Freight train collides with passenger train (01/03/2023)

I may be totally wrong regarding Greece, but I don't think it's uncommon in that part of the world for the 'station master' to officially be what we would considered to be a hybrid of a signaller/dispatcher, but based out of the station building, rather than do what we would consider to be the...

NSW Trains CAF Civity XPT replacement

Sounds like you could have just done with scaled down Siemens Chargers, with a version of Viaggio/Venture carriages if they wished to push the boat out. I dread to think what a CAF unit will be like with your legendarily rough PWay!

    Information sources on US railroads?

This site is probably worth a look: https://www.american-rails.com/#America Bit of a jumble shop of information, but there's quite a lot of stuff covered if you've got some time to navigate it. I've found the 'Fallen Flags' section to be particularly interesting, as it provides write ups on the...

    San Francisco Trams etc

I think the clientele is a bit more touristy along the bay front, Market Street seems to be frequented by more of the local 'characters', of which San Francisco is unfortunately not short of nowadays. Definitely an added attraction for an enthusiast though. There's a small tram centric museum...

    Budapest to Belgrade.

Probably better of getting off at Novi Beograd/New Belgrade and catching the tram from there. Regarding FIP, guidance issued here by RDG:

    Portuguese National Railway Plan

I can certainly see that electrifying the existing line is highly attractive, but am I missing something regarding Barca d'Alva, I can't see who that extension is intended to serve in any considerable numbers? I'll have to take a look at the translated document tomorrow to see what their...

    Portuguese National Railway Plan

What are the chances for reopening Linha do Corgo, Régua to Vila Real, at least? It's on the last map for potential tourist development. Such a shame that bit closed and so recently, seems like it would have been an obvious ideal choice for a British style preserved operation, rather like...

Are there any service cuts in Switzerland?

I would imagine that it's telling of which countries had the most resilience instilled within their staff resourcing levels pre-Covid.
