Filming at Crewe this weekend. Need advice!

Someone noticed loitering in the staff car park in the middle of the night would be likely to attract a visit by the BTP at some point. I can't recall how far down that road the no public access/trespass signs are though, as presumably the area around what is now the rail replacement bus waiting...

Had problems taking pictures of the railways?

The conversation should have ended here. The Metro have allowed him to video, but he screwed up and now he's banned again. Your friend is probably the kind of person who causes the problems for all the photographers out there who do nothing wrong... Some of his videos don't help his cause...

    Photo advice - Birmingham International

It's a shame that they put up those pointlessly big metal fences at the end of the platforms. What a waste of money...

    Specific photographic law advice please

You should refuse to delete the photographs, definitely. Try and be tactful about it though, as on the off chance that the member of staff is au fait with the ambiguities of the railway byelaws (it's unlikely), they could try and remove you from the station.

Had problems taking pictures of the railways?

You're correct that it's an offence, but it's nothing to do with vagrancy in cases like this. Anyone can be charged for failing to leave railway property after being asked to do so by a member of staff under Section 16 of the Railway Regulation Act 1840. It's also covered under Section 13(2) of...

Had problems taking pictures of the railways?

Easy solution, don't give your name or address, as you don't have to under a Section 44 stop and search. If I were to be stopped by a Police Officer though, I would give my first name as I wouldn't like to come across rude. Personally, I believe we've passed the peak of 'the war on train...

How to get some VERY strange looks

Very cool Mumrar, it was certainly worth the effort! :) PS, I've definitely seen you at New Street before.

    Scum

You'd more likely get done for obstructing a police officer. The copper should face disciplinary action, but a charge of assault is over the top. The whole incident is ridiculous (why did the French man insist on filming the copper/why was the copper even bothered that he was being filmed) and...

    Scum

Police brutality!!!! Oh wait, no, this is Police brutality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-1fPToIOTA Though the copper was tactless, it was hardly assault. Maybe if the French chap hadn't been deliberately trying to provoke them by pointlessly filming them, there wouldn't have been any...

Stop-and-search powers ruled illegal by European court

Thanks, I will most probably take you up on that offer. :)

Stop-and-search powers ruled illegal by European court

Yep, a little while back. I've passed the paper shift and have got my assessment coming up soon. :)

Stop-and-search powers ruled illegal by European court

Indeed. :) Polls and Ralphchadkirk raise a number of good examples as to why I seem to defend the Police, it's my belief that the majority are good but get a bad name because of the minority of bad officers. The press are only too happy to pounce on the actions of bad officers, quiet rightly...

Stop-and-search powers ruled illegal by European court

(I might have mixed bits of you post up Yorkie so I can reply to certain points all in one). I have to admit, I stopped watching about 5 minutes in, sorry. I'm sorry I got the wrong end of the stick with you post, I should have sort clarification before I replied like I did. The...

Stop-and-search powers ruled illegal by European court

Well, I think we can both agree that, hopefully, your doomsday theory won't come to fruition. :) Oh come on, that's a low blow. All British coppers are bad because of the actions of some Indian and US Police officers? You really do have a skewed view of British Police! This is one...

Stop-and-search powers ruled illegal by European court

Yeah, I've heard this too, though I don't know how much is considered unsuitable. Yeah, I certainly don't stick up for this use of CCTV. Calm down chap, I never intended to offend anyone, it was just a joke... I just wanted to be sure. Where have I denied that it isn't a...

Stop-and-search powers ruled illegal by European court

I'm always puzzled by people who complain about the amount of CCTV in Britain or even the presence of any CCTV at all, what is so wrong with it? Imagine you are walking down an empty high street late on a Wednesday night/early Thursday morning, there's no-one around except two dodgy suspects...

Stop-and-search powers ruled illegal by European court

It does to an extent, but looking at the bigger picture, I honestly believe these are the highly publicised exceptions rather then the day to day rule. Though I haven't personally interrupted a politician at a political conference so can't speak personally on that, I can offer my own personal...

Stop-and-search powers ruled illegal by European court

Though I agree that Section 44 should be scrapped as it does more harm then good, I find talk that Britiain is now a Police state ridiculous. If this is a Police state, then it's the softest Police state ever... As long as people who bemoan 'Big Brother Britain', with it's CCTV and DNA...
