No trains at all next week on the whole line (10-18 Feb inclusive). Bus times are showing. However, the national rail website says 'Engineering work is taking place between Reading and Guildford', so why are the no trains between Redhill and Guildford?

Agree, there was no service last week due to engineering works and no service again this week at certain times due to 'more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time'.

Interestingly, the line was also closed yesterday (Sunday 29 October). I wonder what was so urgent that it couldn't keep.

Unfortunately for me, the SWR emergency timetable ends this week. All back to *normal* next week but not to pre COVID levels of service.

Sorry, I should have stated that, for me, the service is better because of the timings. My route is Epsom / Guildford so only one service per hour. When a service is only hourly, the timing is very important and it is better for me under the new timetable.

I think it could almost be a chicken and egg situation. If the timetable is poor, it makes the railways less attractive, so fewer passengers use it, leading to fewer services, etc. There are alternatives, such as private car, taxi, bus, working from home, etc. Or Not going out at all for...

The SWR timetable is a work of fiction, certainly for most of December. We don't know how many strikes are planned for 2020.

I am somewhat confused by the platform changes for the new May 2019 timetable. Yesterday, the 08.13 GWR service to Reading arrived platform 5, today it was platform 8 - the usual platform. The 17.44 GWR service to Reading uses platform 8 as before. However, the 17.50 GWR service to Redhill also...

The weekday timetable, as it has been updated for 21 May, sees a drastic reduction in services for places such as Gomshall. Instead of 3 trains to Guildford/Reading before 9AM, there is only one, at 07.58. Is GWR able to make such a drastic change without prior consultation?

This timetable change presents me with a problem. I travel from Brockley to Caterham late Friday evening. Now there are no direct services, and the connection times at East Croydon are long (18 - 21 minutes). The alternative is to get the overground to West Croydon and the 407 bus.
