New Hammersmith and city line entrance at Paddington.

At the weekend the new entrance to the Hammersmith and city line opened at Paddington and closing the old footbridge. Does anybody know what is going to happen to the old one?

This is all part of the joint Crossrail and LUL project to create an integrated ticket hall/station entrances at Paddington (Suburban) station.

The old footbridge will basically become relevant to FGW's platforms only, but it will also have a gateline giving access to LU's new concourse at its north end. Shown in blue on drawing below.

So for example a change from an FGW service arriving on P13/14 to an LU service on P15/16 will be via two barrier lines, but you'll still be able to turn left at the top of the stairs from P14...

I suspect that before long the LU ticket machines will be removed from the P8 end of what will have become a National Rail only footbridge?
