I found this while catching up with my daily news. This maybe a good idea for meets as its quite cheap but its general news anyway.

'No frills' hotel opens in London

EasyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou opened his first "no-frills" easyHotel on Monday.

Prices start from £20 for one of the 34 rooms at Lexham Gardens in Earls Court, west London.

There is no bar or lounge or any shared public areas, except for a reception desk, and only one member of staff will be permanently on site.

Only three of the rooms have windows and they come in three sizes - small, very small and tiny.

They are 80 sq ft, 70 sq ft and 60 sq ft respectively.

'Safe, clean room'

The rooms do have en-suite bathrooms with towels, air conditioning and pay-as-you-go television but no food is available.

An easyHotel spokesman said: "The aim of easyHotel is to provide a safe, clean room for the night with a bathroom en-suite and to fill the gap left between the branded chains of hotels and bed & breakfast accommodation.

"The existing branded hotel chains all start at a price much higher than easyHotel and bed & breakfast accommodation is an un-branded 'one-off' service where quality and value are variable.

An easyHotel will open in Basle, Switzerland, in September and it is planned there will be more of these low-cost establishments in London and the UK.

And also: Pay as you go television? That could end up erasing any saving made just through watching a few programs in the evening (not to mension the likely cost of the porn!)

But I think this would be far preferable to a hostel with dormitories.

Still, there and possibly back on the sleeper will always win out for me, especially if bargain berths are available. Mind you, that involves going to Glasgow if you want a decent nights sleep (Carlisle is awful for timings), which I tend to make a day of thus costing me a fortune and then get on the train and have some haggis and then stay for a nightcap and... In fact any hotel would probably save me money.

:( I cost myself too much money.

PAYG television is excellent for those who don't watch it :).

It's finally opened! Woohoo!

Cheap for a hotel that! I wouldn't care about the size of the room, if all I need it for is a nice, warm, comfy bed to sleep in for a few hours! Heck, it's cheaper than the YHA hostel I stayed in during March!

I'll bear this in mind for future London trips. How can I book a room there?

Ok, we are aware that you can get £26 a night in the Travel Lodge in the Docklands? But it seems to be a bit pot luck when its on a cheap deal.

Ian

EDIT: Actually it seems to be a thing that kind of alternates around. So not just the Docklands hotel
