I am trying to book the above ticket (Anytime return) from Didcot Parkway but am struggling to get the Scot rail booking engine to let me travel on the 8.30am or 9.30am ex London Euston, it trys to book me on the 10.30am. I want to travel on a Friday morning in October. I would rather avoid the stress of missing the ferry from Cairnryan as some of the connections are tight.
I have tried putting in shorter/longer connection times and less time for London transfer, also used the National rail & Raileasy web site with no luck. I am about to give up and book at Euston but if anyone has any good ideas for getting around the system let me know. Alternatively if you have a good telephone number for Scotrail that would be great - if I use the standard number the service is very variable but the specialists are excellent

If it's an Anytime Return, can you not just buy it online without train reservations, and then ask for specific reservations later (in person or by telesales)?

What boat are you trying to travel on?

The reservations which come with this ticket (except the boat) aren't compulsory, so you can still travel on an earlier train or indeed a different route to the reservations you have been given.

Is there not a charge to book reservations later? Or can I buy on line & then book a reservation at say Paddington?
