The class 09 shunter which was based at Lovers Walk until today, will be moving to the Spa Valley Railway where it will be based in preservation
I saw 09026 at Brighton station and being loaded on to the lorry.
Video to follow.
What does everyone think about this move. 09026 is rarely used at lovers walk so I suppose it is good for it to go and get some use :)

As a matter of interest, why and when was the loco renamed, please?

In March 1988 it was called "William Thompson" but now it's "Cedric Wares"; and who were these two people?

Thank you.

Not sure how reliable but Shunterspot forum shows the following

2003 - At Brighton T&RSMD, 09026 had the Cedric Wares nameplate fitted. Taking place in the July during a private ceremony, Mr Wares was a Brighton fitter, who retired earlier on in the year after completing 50 years of service.
