Was anyone on this train last Sunday?
Ran fine and on time to Wolverhampton, sat there for around 15 mins as is usual if its on time, however it then ran back to Stafford! No announcement! (in coach C anyway) Then told it was running straight to Euston! All Sandwell and Dudley and Birmingham passengers to get of and get a Cross Country train in 40 minutes! Shocking customer service from Virgin, at least 50 passengers affected, staff at Stafford had no idea why it happened.

From about 1630, there were lots of cancellations at Birmingham International (BHI) because of "signal failure".
Presumably your train (to Euston) was caught up in this and went back to Stafford and via the Trent Valley to avoid this.
Shouldn't have affected LM and XC to New St but it looks like XC trains via BHI were diverted via Solihull.
No excuse for VT not to keep you informed though, or let you off at Wolves for a train forward.
Ironically, your train appears to have reached Euston a little early (9M57)! http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/P51249/2015/04/19/advanced
All on realtimetrains for a day or two.
Put in BHI for a detailed search and look at the reasons for cancellations around that time.
